Abstract: Sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to protect oceans by ensuring their sustainable use. This includes safeguarding marine and coastal habitats, reducing marine pollution, and minimising ocean acidification. This chapter seeks to promote the implementation of SDGs by evaluating the capability of Indonesia's marine patrols, as the world maritime axis, to address the issues presented by the use of nuclear energy as an alternative source of energy for maritime patrol. Data was gathered using the qualitative method from nuclear specialists and maritime patrol officers. After data collection reached saturation, data were codified and analysed. The Ishikawa Model is also deployed to portray stakeholder analysis structure. The research revealed the significance of Indonesia's ability to identify nuclear material as a part of the world maritime axis. The risk of failure or leakage in the water is a challenge of marine life's resilience. The research is expected to contribute to the body of knowledge by addressing how nuclear energy can be used to enhance maritime patrol capabilities.

Abstract: We are witnessing the rapid adoption of smart mobile devices globally, especially smartphones. Unlike cell phones, most computer functions can be performed by smartphones. The established players of cell phones have lost their grip on the market and new players have quickly captured the market's interest. Open Source (OSS) can be viewed as a kind of Open Innovation where a company outsource software needed to the community or alternatively a company can contribute its software to the community after turning it to open source software. This chapter discusses the Open Innovation and adoption of OSS in smartphone industry. The development OSS and it use in smartphones will be presented. The competition between proprietary and OSS operating systems for smartphones will be discussed as platforms or operation systems shape the smartphone industry.

Abstract: The adoption of knowledge management (KM) to steer new skills and capabilities among people provides evidence that KM not only offers competitive advantages but also provides a means for organisational survival, by improvising core capabilities or generate new ones that can drive people in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) era. This paperaim to identify critical new skills and capabilities among people within an organisation to stay competitive, innovative and relevant. The paper presents the findings on new skills assessment for Fourth Industrial Revolution. The study was carried out through an interview with a focus group discussion technique to gather data on the role of KM in creating new set of skills or capabilities in Fourth Industrial Revolution’s landscape. The study also reports a bibliographic study of critical skills based on more than a decade of related academic and industry publications to portray research trends and future directions. There is a demand in “must-have” skills related to Industry 4.0 such as capability for complex decision-making, complex problem-solving, collaborative innovation, project management, creativity and critical thinking, social skill and social responsibility. While these skills are critical enablers to aiding in iduals in the scenarios of plausible 4IR futures, several important new research trends that emerge have also not been adequately explored including KM and Industry 4.0 skill gap, skill evolution, machine knowledge, intuitive decision-making, rational decision-making, technostress, digital fluency, collaborative innovation, industrial policies, human–machine interaction and societal systems. This research provides a roadmap for the next research trends and topics in the area of Fourth Industrial Revolution and new skills requirements. The study discusses some of the essential issues and challenges with upskilling required for Industry 4.0. It also focuses on how upskilling learning initiatives influence new knowledge creation. This primarily contributes to the educational field in deciding how and when to adopt appropriate strategies and identify which initiatives to best meet the needs of its community. KM enables in iduals to utilise their existing core capabilities or generate new ones for immediate investment in upskilling to meet current and future skills needs required by an organisation. Simply put, KM will improve the organisation’s talent-driven learning strategy and increase in iduals’ ability to learn faster and attain sustainable competitive advantage in a fast-paced ever changing environment. This paper is useful to academics, practitioners and policymakers in the fields of KM. The research provides initial insight into new skills mapping in the context of Fourth Industrial Revolution and the needs for researchers to understand the recent research trends in KM.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the enabling factors and the customers’ acceptance of ride-hailing in Indonesia. The authors adopt some constructs from the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) 2 as the framework for the study to derive factors that influence the acceptance of ride-hailing in Indonesia. S les through a convenience s ling method were collected from an online survey and were transformed into data through coding and subsequently processed using SPSS for descriptive analysis, reliability test, correlation and multiple regression analysis for hypothesis testing. Ride-hailing started in 2015 in Indonesia. Five enabling factors make digital ride-hailing possible, the internet, smartphone, broadband wireless network, digital map and global positioning system. The authors found that performance expectancy, social influence and habit positively influence customers to accept ride-hailing in Indonesia. Although this research has a small s le, it is still relevant to understand people’s acceptance to the ride-hailing platform. As a ride-hailing platform is now transformed to a multisided markets platform, adoption studies or other studies on each market to cover the whole picture of the platform influence to the society, and its contribution to the national economy will be very interesting. The authors’ future research will cover various services covered by ride-hailing companies. This study proposes and argues that four main enabling factors make digital ride-hailing a viable business. The study contributes to three significant factors that influence the acceptance of ride-hailing in Indonesia.

Abstract: This article describes how smartphones have converged into multifunctional personal devices. Smartphones are equipped with features such as Internet access, cameras (pictures and videos) and MP3 players. While a majority of previous research investigated the use and effects of mobile phones and young people, these studies focused on the Western context. A qualitative research method was used to investigate the research questions. Specifically, focus groups and in-depth interviews were used to collect data. Nevertheless, while a growing number of studies has investigated mobile phone use by teenagers in non-western countries, there is little research on smartphone uses and their implications to teenagers in an Islamic context. This article examines the uses of smartphones by, and their implications to, Bruneian teenagers. The research seeks to map and understand the complex forces that influence and challenge the socio-cultural values and religious beliefs of teenagers in a non-Western, Malay, Islamic society such as Brunei.

Abstract: Developments in ICT have created a new generation of networking technology that affects all areas, including healthcare. The use of ICT in healthcare organizations, for ex le in health information systems (HIS), has developed the same way as the wider landscape, and includes the use of Internet-based technology. The adoption of social network features as the ‘front end' of electronic health (e-health) systems is believed to boost sharing between consumers, leading to greater satisfaction. E-health is likely to become more consumer-centric, accommodating consumers' participation in the healthcare process, including decision-making. The government of Taiwan has successfully implemented a National Health Insurance (NHI) system as the foundation for e-health. Improvements in technology may drive changing consumer behavior concerning healthcare services. This paper addresses some important concepts, milestones, challenges, and future direction of consumer empowerment in Taiwan, and proposes that empowerment will be personal, social, and medical.

Abstract: Risk assessment and developing predictive models for diabetes prevention is considered an important task. Therefore, we proposed to analyze and provide a comprehensive analysis of the performance of diabetes screening scores for risk assessment and prediction in five populations: the Chinese, Japanese, Korean, US-PIMA Indian, and Trinidadian populations, utilizing statistical and machine learning (ML) methods. Additionally, due to the present COVID-19 epidemic, it is necessary to investigate how diabetes and COVID-19 are related to one another. Thus, by using a s le of the Korean population, the interrelationship between diabetes and COVID-19 was further investigated. The results revealed that by using a statistical method, the optimal cut points among Chinese, Japanese, Korean, US-PIMA Indian, and Trinidadian populations were 6.205 mmol/L (FPG), 5.523 mmol/L (FPG), and 5.375% (HbA1c), 150.50–106.50 mg/dL (FBS), 123.50 mg/dL (2hPG), and 107.50 mg/dL (FBG), respectively, with AUC scores of 0.97, 0.80, 0.78, 0.85, 0.79, and 0.905. The results also confirmed that diabetes has a significant relationship with COVID-19 in the Korean population (p-value 0.001), with an adjusted OR of 1.21. Finally, the overall best ML models were performed by Naïve Bayes with AUC scores of 0.736, 0.75, and 0.83 in the Japanese, Korean, and Trinidadian populations, respectively.

Abstract: Recent development of mobile phones is very interesting as the new generation, known as “smart phones”, offer highly attractive features. The main advantage of smart phones is the ability to connect to the Internet from anywhere, consequently enabling them to remain continuously in touch with their social networks. This paper discusses how consumers in Brunei Darussalam (Brunei) responded to the survey of smart phones. A Theory of Reasoned Action Model is used to understand customers preference in choosing a specific product over the other. To assess the use of smart phones, the authors conducted surveys with consumers, stressing on product preferences, consumption behavior of smart phones, as well as opinions on the functionality of smart phones. The smart phone market in Brunei is dominated by the younger generation who is less sensitive towards price. In terms of usability, consumers prefer smart phones more than tablets or other mobile devices, the reason for their preference being the superior functional features which exist in smart phones.

Abstract: The recent development of Web 2.0, cloud computing and its related technologies are contributing towards the tendency to utilize mobile services and e-participation through Web 2.0. It offers users the ability to have greater control of information flow in public spaces, making active participation highly possible. Citizens are empowered in the sense that they control the process of interaction(s), either with the government or with other citizens. This chapter presents a model for empowerment of citizens in e-government systems to enhance e-participation in e-government business processes through the cloud. We believe cloud computing is a platform to implement e-participation using Web 2.0 as many of the existing Web 2.0 applications are deployed in the cloud. The model is derived based on contemporary literature on empowerment and participation in e-government services. This model is expected to fill the gap in identifying a strategy of citizen empowerment in e-participation systems.

Abstract: The term metaverse refers to a virtual environment that exists beyond the physical world we live in but, at the same time, is similar to the real world. This chapter intends to investigate the impact of the metaverse for future business scenarios and whether there are other uses for the metaverse besides for business and entertainment purposes. The research for this chapter explains the potential and challenges of the metaverse, ways to create and maintain a strategic information systems, and the role of big data analytics in Industry 4.0. The significant findings indicate that the metaverse creates business opportunities for both consumers and sellers due to the growth of digital commerce since shopping can become more immersive with the option to buy physical or digital goods. However, digital footprints may be tracked from the metaverse to disclose the real-world identity of the user and other private information, which can be an invasion of privacy.

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) has become more widely used in many organizations, including logistics, such as driver assistance, parcel sorters, and inventory planners. In the times of COVID-19, the delivery drivers have become busier as more parcels are ordered, which affects their health. Due to poor management and outdated technology, the drivers cannot complete their tasks on time. However, if these organisations were to implement AI, the AI assistance would help with parcel sorting and save time on delivery packages. With the implementation of AI, the delivery time and route will also be predicted, easing the work of drivers. The customer and workers might positively accept the introduction of robotics. However, there might be some opposition from people who think that robots will take their jobs. The study used the case of logistic companies in South Korea. The study recommended that the deployment of AI could improve their performance and save the lives of drivers.

Abstract: The growing numbers of unemployment raises concerns around the world. With the arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) many believed that 4IR might increase the unemployment rate by replacing the current jobs with automated machines such as robots whereas some argued that 4IR might reduce the unemployment rate by creating millions of new jobs. The paper aims to share the scenario of Industry 4.0 processes that affect future talent management, in determining which jobs will be severely affected, and that will be less affected. The talent mapping is a conceptual framework of job landscapes and the following four clusters examine job characteristics: machine-centric to human-centric, routine to complex, and optimization to identity. A qualitative method was deployed to extracts primary data from educators' perspectives in developing talents required for 4IR through Education 4.0. The adoption of Education 4.0 will be advantageous for developing talent in keeping up with the progressive and demanding talents in 4IR. The proposed model defined that clusters of machine-centric are jobs performed routinely on an application basis and usually structured and do not require any compassion or emotions. While developing talents for clusters in human-centric jobs, it may be difficult to replace humans due to complexities in the decision-making process and required compassion for task completion.

Abstract: Financial technology (FinTech) has become more ubiquitous in an era of accelerating internet technology and rising e-commerce. With the increasing digitisation of the marketplace, smartphones are now used not only for communication but also as a means of payment in a number of countries. Several initiatives have been undertaken to accelerate the digital transformation of the business, including the use of digital wallets by young adults. Given the scarcity of research examining FinTech adoption from a human behaviour perspective, this study will examine the elements that motivate people to use digital wallets. Three major themes were theoretically derived using a qualitative technique and Maslow's hierarchy of needs as the research instrument. The main reasons why young adults use digital wallets were found to be “youth digitalization,” “technological anxiety,” and a “positive attitude toward technology use.”

Abstract: This research examines the concept of a robo-advisor with digital twin capabilities for personal financial management. Using an exploratory study, the researchers developed an interactive and interpretive model that analyses the most critical variables to consider when designing the next level of financial robo-advisor through integrating digital twin concepts and applications. Primarily, it conducts an assessment and then reviews the data to propose a model that can serve as a baseline for future research. Related literature was explored, including peer-reviewed journal articles, case studies, periodicals, newspaper articles, and books. This study aims to assess the concept of digital twin (DT) as the next frontier of robo-advisor as a new wave of intelligent financial advisors in supporting the personalisation and customisation of financial technology (FinTech) services and management. In iduals who use a DT-enabled robo-advisor may find a significantly greater value for their financial management and well-being. A robo-advisor with DT enabled will no longer be an ad hoc financial advisory service but will evolve into a comprehensive and dynamic financial advisory service for users. The research presents several critical insights on financial robo-advisory with DT capabilities, transforming and optimising smart financial advisory.

Abstract: Software development usually follows the stages known as the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Development begins with the requirements phase and then continues with the design, development of test plans, implementation (coding), testing, and deployment. However, the security aspect has not been explicitly reflected in SDLC. In fact security must be present at every stage of the SDLC. Application of security in the process of developing software, especially e-Commerce, one of which uses the Security Development Lifecycle-Agile (SDL-Agile) method. The advantage of the SDL-Agile method is the application development process which incorporates a safety factor in each application development process, which is concise, and emphasizes user satisfaction. This objective of this paper examine the deployment of SDL Agile Method for eCommerce website to measure its confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the systems.

Abstract: This paper aims to evaluate the responses taken during the pandemic of COVID-19 in sustaining agricultural activities and safeguarding local food supply via digital platforms by applying the case study method. This paper uses a case study approach due to its systematic way of collecting data, analysing information and reporting results to understand the particular problem. For this study, secondary data consisting of government reports and documents are used to give a broader understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on the local food system and digital platform for agricultural produce. The impact of COVID-19 on the agri-food sector is the move towards a more resilient and sustainable local food system, whereby nations emphasise food security by encouraging local food production. This is done by boosting micro, small and medium enterprises’ (MSME) output, “supporting local” initiatives and leveraging digital platforms and FinTech in business transactions. This study highlights that MSMEs’ adoption of digital platforms, particularly in the agri-food sector, demonstrates their willingness to embrace new business models that leverage technological advancements while maintaining the personal touch that attracts customers. This study implies that although the pandemic outbreak created prolonged uncertainties with an immediate impact on the economy and ways of doing business transactions, digital platforms and FinTech ensured continuous food supply during the period. This paper provides initial valuable insight to academics, practitioners and policymakers in agriculture and innovation management. It can be observed that digital platform and FinTech plays an essential role in ensuring safety and undisrupted food supply, especially in the case of fresh produce grown by local small-scale farmers and MSMEs. This creates a more resilient agri-food system and reduces the pressure from the conventional model of food purchase and social distancing requirements.

Abstract: The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and its derivative technologies, such as machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL), heralds a new era of knowledge management (KM) presentation and discovery. KM necessitates ML for improved organisational experiences, particularly in making knowledge management more discoverable and shareable. Machine learning (ML) is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that requires new tools and techniques to acquire, store, and analyse data and is used to improve decision-making and to make more accurate predictions of future outcomes. ML demands big data be used to develop a method of data analysis that automates the construction of analytical models for the purpose of improving the organisational knowledge. Knowledge, as an organisation’s most valuable asset, must be managed in automation to support decision-making, which can only be accomplished by activating ML in knowledge management systems (KMS). The main objective of this study is to investigate the extent to which machine learning applications are used in knowledge management applications. This is very important because ML with AI capabilities will become the future of managing knowledge for business survival. This research used a literature review and theme analysis of recent studies to acquire its data. The results of this research provide an overview of the relationship between big data, machine learning, and knowledge management. This research also shows that only 10% of the research that has been published is about machine learning and knowledge management in business and management applications. Therefore, this study gives an overview of the knowledge gap in investigating how ML can be used in KM for business applications in organisations.

Abstract: The adoption of Web 2.0 in many business sectors is increasing because it offers the ability for customers to have a greater control in generating contents to their personalized web. Customers are empowered in the sense of controlling the process of interaction(s) between a firm with its customers, and among customers themselves. However, providing empowerment in any state of interaction levels to customers (patients) in a healthcare organization is challenging. Many healthcare organizations have adopted empowerment in their e-health scenario therefore, it needs a mechanism to measure at which level they have implemented empowerment within their organizations. This article proposes three layers of customers' empowerment in e-health systems based on a reference model called Personal Health Cycle (PHC). The layers of empowerment are personal, social, and medical layers respectively. The modular approach is used to simplify healthcare organizations identifying which modules to be adopted in implementing a strategy for customers' empowerment. The model is derived based on recent studies of empowerment in healthcare organizations. A survey also has been conducted in Brunei Darussalam (Brunei) to verify and improve our initial model and to understand the responses of people regarding empowerment in the e-health services. Questions for the survey are derived from the features of the PHC. The respondents reacted positively to the features of empowerment proposed. We use PHC to define and distinguish electronic health record (EHR) from electronic medical record (EMR).

Abstract: Electronic health records (EHRs) store health-related patient information in an electronic format, improving the quality of health care management and increasing efficiency of health care processes. However, in existing information systems, health-related records are generated, managed, and controlled by health care organizations. Patients are perceived as recipients of care and normally cannot directly interact with the system that stores their health-related records their participation in enriching this information is not possible. Many businesses now allow customers to participate in generating information for their systems, strengthening customer relationships. This trend is supported by Web 2.0, which enables interactivity through various means, including social networks. Health care systems should be able to take advantage of this development. This article proposes a novel framework in addressing the emerging need for interactivity while preserving and extending existing electronic medical data. The framework has 3 dimensions of patient health record: personal, social, and medical dimensions. The framework is designed to empower patients, changing their roles from static recipient of health care services to dynamic and active partners in health care processes.

Abstract: A two-sided market or two-sided network is made up of two distinct user groups that provide each other with network benefits in which they interact through an intermediary or platform. A digital marketplace makes use of a two-sided market where the two distinct groups are the buyers and sellers. A digital marketplace is a type of e-commerce site where the sellers offer products or services to the buyers, and transactions are controlled and processed by marketplace operators. With the rapid development and adoption of the Internet and digital marketplace globally and also regionally, businesses in Brunei Darussalam are slowly incorporating digital marketplace. This chapter provides an overview of the current state of the digital marketplace in Brunei, and thus, case studies of local digital marketplaces are discussed. A qualitative approach, which consists of interviews with companies, is made for the study. The strengths and problems of employing digital marketplace for businesses and analysis using Michael Porter's five models is also covered in this chapter.

Abstract: A digital marketplace is a digital area or platform where demand and supply sides communicate and transact through the digital space or platform controlled by a digital marketplace provider. Digital marketplaces have become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic while disruptive innovation is a term used to describe a technology that has a major impact on the way a market or industry operates. Disruptive innovation is a positive force and process that changes a market of sophisticated and expensive services and products into one with simplicity, ease, accessibility, and affordability. This study employs a qualitative methodology by undertaking assessment of the relevant literature to examine how digital marketplace becomes disruptive innovation for traditional marketplace. This study reveals that multi-sided market enables digital marketplace to expand multi values co-creations that could not be achieved via physical business. The multi values co-creations distinctively disrupt the conventional physical marketplace.

Abstract: The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) offers optimum productivity and efficiency via automation, expert systems, and artificial intelligence. The Fourth Industrial Revolution deploys smart sensors, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Internet of Things (IoT), Internet of Services (IoS), big data and analytics, Augmented Reality (AR), autonomous robots, additive manufacturing (3D Printing), and cloud computing for optimization purposes. However, the impact of 4IR has brought various changes to digital humanities, mainly in the occupations of people, but also in ethical compliance. It still requires the redefining of the roles of knowledge management (KM) as one of the tools to assist in organization growth, especially in negotiating tasks between machines and people in an organization. Knowledge management is crucial in the development of new digital skills that are governed by the ethical obligations that are necessary in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The purpose of the study is to examine the role of KM strategies in responding to the emergence of 4IR, its impact on and challenges to the labor market, and employment. This paper also analyzes and further discusses how 4IR and employment issues are being viewed in the context of ethical dilemmas.

Abstract: The emergence of cross-border e-commerce (CBE) has its relevance in this digital age and thus brings about the discussion regarding the challenges and potentials of CBE on the local business especially small medium enterprises (SMEs). The wide availability of technology has made CBE possible across geographical, political, and cultural borders. It is a new driving force to promote the upgrading of industrial structure. The method used throughout the research is independent reviews from various studies and articles. Despite the dynamic development of CBE, communication in other languages, the form of payment, currency, legal, and tax conditions, as well as the delivery of products remain barriers to the CBE. The findings of the study show that there are four major drivers affecting CBE performance. These are economics, politics and policies, socio-cultural, and technology.

Abstract: – The emergence of innovative internet-based reservation systems (iReservation systems) is threatening the sustainability of retail travel agencies (TAs) in Brunei Darussalam. With the friendliness and convenience offered by iReservation systems, many customers nowadays prefer to book their tickets and accommodations online. The purpose of this paper is to assess the impact of iReservation systems on TAs in Brunei Darussalam. In other words, the authors are interested to find out how TAs and customers react to iReservation systems. – To fulfil this objective, surveys were conducted on both the responses from TAs and their customers regarding iReservation systems in Brunei Darussalam. – Most in idual customers prefer to book their tickets and accommodations through iReservation systems. However, government and corporate customers still prefer to book tickets and accommodation by TAs. Most TAs are affected by iReservation systems either negatively or positively, depending on how TAs respond with their sustaining strategies such as segmentation, targeting and positioning in the market. – It is clear that without proper strategies in facing turbulent changes in the tourism industry, eventually traditional TAs will be disintermediated.

Abstract: The fusion of several technologies has created disruptive innovation that changes the way in which people interact and transact. The rise of new and innovative business models such as mobile-based platforms in the transport industry has posed a big challenge to the incumbent in a very short time. The fusion allows start-up companies that employ the right strategies expanding their business rapidly by taking over the existing markets as well as creating new markets for them to expand in various directions. In this chapter, the authors discuss three theories to examine business expansion strategies in digital intermediation platforms: transaction cost economy, two-sided market, and value network and. Using these theories, they analyze how Gojek, an Indonesian mobile-based platform, rises and expands rapidly in a very short time. They argue that due to high intense competition, businesses that adopt disruptive technologies through mobile-based platforms by introducing products or services within the same platform are likely to be more sustainable in preserving the market.

Abstract: The most challenging issue in Industry 4.0 is the reduction of the human workforce. This study proposes a mastery concept in identifying a job that can be replaced in Industry 4.0 by machine and a job that hardly replaced by machine. It explains in a job matrix format distinguishing types of jobs that need machine or technologies for optimization and jobs that require compassionately for maintaining an identity as a human being. The matrix defines the nature of a job into a routine human to human interaction, complex human to human interaction, human to machine interaction, and finally machine to machine interaction. The job matrix can become a tool for an organization to develop strategies in the Industry 4.0. The research was based on a qualitative method where secondary data gathered from the literature review analysis. The routine job and non-compassion task required will be replaced by machines and technologies. While, job nature with complexity in decision-making, creativity, innovation, and compassion will remain sustainable in the Industry 4.0.

Abstract: The sudden appearance of COVID-19 has positively ameliorated digital presence generally as well as B2C e-shopping transactions. This situation attracts researchers' interest to unravel the effect of COVID-19 vis-à-vis various e-commerce activities. Recent studies have already shown a direct impact of the pandemic on many businesses, especially B2C transactions. However, its moderation effect and its effect as a control variable were scarcely traced in the literature. Hence, the chapter explains and proposes a framework for assessing online shopping use under the digital transformation in a post-pandemic era, including both a moderating and a control effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. Building on the TAM theoretical model, the proposed framework added risk factors and channel credibility as additional independent variables and the COVID-19 pandemic as both a moderating and a control variable, respectively. Using existing literature, the authors establish relationships among variables and conceptualise both the moderating and control effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, respectively.

Abstract: This study shares some empirical insights for adopting a national innovation system (NIS) to catalyze capacity building in small states with relatively low technology-based research and development resources. These countries may have to start further back than other nations however, this chapter maintains that with the right NIS, latecomers can have the advantage of catching up economically. This study explores Brunei Darussalam's journey to catalyze innovation for sustainable economic growth, particularly digitalization and deep tech. The study found that establishing a national innovation ecosystem could be effective with national consensus and acceptance behind the approach. It emphasizes building critical infrastructures, institutions, and governance to promote efficient knowledge flow, talent development, digital literacy, and overall absorptive capacity. Because Brunei is a small state, coordinating and facilitating cohesive linkages among its key stakeholders can strategically mobilize change. As Brunei Darussalam embarks on such a trajectory, it must determine a relevant model.

Abstract: As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous businesses have migrated to an online delivery platform (ODP) to survive and reconnect with their customers. This study aims to focus on how the public perceives ODP. It examined the acceptance of digital platforms for delivering daily necessities, especially food, in Brunei Darussalam during the COVID-19 pandemic. The online survey collected 350 valid s les, and the online questions were distributed using a snowball s ling method, with the questionnaire’s softcopy prepared in Qualtrics and sent via email and social media as hyperlinks. In 2021, we sent out the questionnaire link via email, WhatsApp and Facebook to people and organizations for about six months. According to the findings of the study, product quality is a critical factor that consumers consider while making online purchases of different products. The COVID-19 condition positively affects customer acceptance, performance, effort and product quality. This research indicates that service quality, online habits and trust do not influence customer acceptance of an ODP. The study contributes to the body of knowledge regarding factors influencing the acceptance of ODPs. The factors that influence people’s acceptance of ODPs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, are assessed as to whether the COVID-19 pandemic influences people’s acceptance and the identified factor that has the strongest influence on the acceptance of digital delivery platforms. The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge about how customer behaviors triggered by the COVID-19 condition influence customer acceptance of ODP and how behavior influences customer acceptance of ODP. This paper is useful to academics, practitioners and policymakers in public administration and policy management. The research provides some insights into massive adoption of ODPs that affects the disruption of conventional business practices.

Abstract: Mobile technology enables health-care organizations to extend health-care services by providing a suitable environment to achieve mobile health (mHealth) goals, making some health-care services accessible anywhere and anytime. Introducing mHealth could change the business processes in delivering services to patients. mHealth could empower patients as it becomes necessary for them to become involved in the health-care processes related to them. This includes the ability for patients to manage their personal information and interact with health-care staff as well as among patients themselves. The study proposes a new position to supervise mHealth services: the online health educator (OHE). The OHE should be occupied by special health-care staffs who are trained in managing online services. A survey was conducted in Brunei and Indonesia to discover the roles of OHE in managing mHealth services, followed by a focus group discussion with participants who interacted with OHE in a real online health scenario. Data analysis showed that OHE could improve patients’ confidence and satisfaction in health-care services.

Abstract: In conventional e-health initiatives, customers (patients) are mostly perceived as recipients of medical care, where they play little roles in the process of health decision making. Empowerment in e-health enables in iduals to access their health data and consult online with medical staff. The proposed concept is intended to improve the existing e-health theory in relation to patient empowerment. The study suggests a model that expands the role of customers (patient) in three dimensions: as an in idual health actor, social health agent, and medical partner. This study is theoretically significant because it explores a comprehensive approach of patient empowerment in e-health systems to achieve best practice customer service, establish long-term customer relationships to improve customer satisfaction, and achieve better health literacy of in iduals.

Abstract: E-commerce has significantly changed the way businesses conduct transactions via the internet, which primarily associates the buying and selling of products or services. Through the internet, businesses can sell their products or services directly to their consumers or through a digital marketplace to attain a broader market. Digital marketplace firms are among the earliest e-commerce firms established, such as Amazon and eBay. With the rapid growth and adoption of the Internet and digital marketplace on a global scale and also at a regional level, implementation of digital marketplace is slowly rising in Brunei Darussalam throughout the last decade. This chapter aims to investigate the rise of digital marketplace in Brunei Darussalam. The chapter includes background theories of the digital marketplace, such as two-sided markets and digital platforms. Several cases of digital marketplace and governing bodies are explored, and factors contributing to the rise of digital marketplace will be discussed.

Abstract: Indonesia has a large population and its increasing degree of internet penetration accessed through smartphones, which recently has reached 63.5% or more than 170 million people connected to the internet, has made Indonesia a fertile land for digital marketplace platforms to flourish. We witnessed the blossoming of digital marketplace platforms in this decade many start-ups have been born, and some of them have reached the unicorn status in a relatively short time, such as Go-Jek, Traveloka, Tokopedia, and Bukalapak. Although most of these digital marketplaces have never been physically involved with any types of agriculture, there are more than a dozen start-ups of the digital marketplace that are directly involved with farming, and the number of them has grown recently. This chapter will discuss small-scale farming problems in Indonesia and how the digital marketplace offers solutions to the problems. Related theories such as transaction cost economy and the multi-sided market will be discussed. Some cases of a digital marketplace for agriculture in Indonesia will be explored.

Abstract: Digital wallet is expanding largely driven by the evolution of internet and smartphone penetration. Numerous digital wallet providers have risen in many countries including Brunei Darussalam. However, the level of adoption is still low, and cashless society is still far from an expected target. There's no magic formula in deploying a guaranteed successful digital wallet, but developing a digital wallet ecosystem that is tailored to the local markets will be expected to increase digital culture and cashless society. The research assesses the existing digital wallet ecosystem, then analyses the extent of compatibility of local market demand. Furthermore, it introduces an improved digital wallet ecosystem model in order to support financial inclusion achieved through a holistic digital wallet ecosystem. The chapter also examines external factors that contribute to the digital wallet ecosystem's width of usage.

Abstract: Despite the increasing adoption of financial technology (FinTech) and the need for secure payment methods, mobile payments as a mode of settling daily business transactions have not received sufficient attention. To date, several business actors prefer to use conventional money payment modes. However, it is apparent that the need for a more effective payment method today is considered as a basic necessity, considering the current complexity of consumers and the negative effect of COVID-19. Moreover, the crisis raised a wave of apprehension over a large number of business actors, particularly small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). The literature search indicated that the government should implement the correct policy to help create an acceptable environment for financial transactions for both the user and providers. It is also necessary to ensure that client security and privacy rights are protected during the mobile payment transactions.

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are worldwide chronic diseases that have strong relationships with one another and commonly exist together. Type 2 diabetes is considered one of the risk factors for NAFLD, so its occurrence in people with NAFLD is highly likely. As the high and increasing number of T2D and NAFLD, which potentially followed by existing together number, an analysis and assessment of T2D screening scores in people with NAFLD is necessary to be done. To prevent this potential case, an effective early prediction model is also required to be developed, which could help the patients avoid the dangers of both existing diseases. Therefore, in this study, analysis and assessment of T2D screening scores in people with NAFLD and the early prediction model utilizing a forward logistic regression-based feature selection method and multi-layer perceptrons are proposed. Our analysis and assessment results showed that the prevalence of T2D among patients with NAFLD was 8.13% (for prediabetes) and 37.19% (for diabetes) in two population-based NAFLD datasets. The variables related to clinical tests, such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), and systolic blood pressure (SBP), were found to be statistically significant predictors (p-values 0.001) that indicate a strong association with T2D among patients with NAFLD in both the prediabetes and diabetes NAFLD datasets. Finally, our proposed model showed the best performance in terms of all performance evaluation metrics compared to existing various machine learning models and also the models using variables recommended by WHO/CDC/ADA, with achieved accuracy as much as 92.11% and 83.05% and its improvement scores after feature selection of 1.35% and 5.35%, for the first and second dataset, respectively.

Abstract: Healthcare can be seen as a value shop, in which solutions to health problems are offered in exchange for valuable contributions. However, the full value exchange between the healthcare provider and the patient is not always apparent. The value shop concept runs the risk of considering only what the patient pays (i.e., money, either paid by the patient or reimbursed by the government) while ignoring another important value, data. Yet without this data, the patient’s problem cannot be solved. This article offers a new paradigm in which a health provider can deliver better value by integrating all dimensions of the provider’s and patient’s value.

Abstract: This chapter discusses and proposes an integrated model of actual online shopping use behaviour, with a moderating role of personal traits (openness to experience and agreeableness). Building on the TAM model, the proposed framework harnesses its factors from supported theories, namely social cognitive theory, source credibility theory, risk theory, and OCEAN model. A literature review approach is employed in which the author uses previous relevant studies to establish the relationship among the variables. Apart from direct relationships, the chapter conceptualises mediating role of Intention on the relationship between a set of predictors (internet self-efficacy, perceived channel credibility, financial and security risk) and actual online shopping usage behaviour. At the same time, the chapter explores the moderating role of openness to experience and agreeableness on the relationship between the TAM's belief constructs and intention. Finally, the chapter concludes with highlights on the framework's contributions, limitations, and plan for future empirical investigation.

Abstract: Web technology provides healthcare organizations the ability to broaden services beyond usual practices, and thus provides a particularly advantageous environment to achieve complex e-health goals. Furthermore, introducing web technology in healthcare services may add value to the overall healthcare process. Web technology helps healthcare organizations to extend the online health services (e-health) beyond their traditional mechanism. The changes enable customers (patients) to participate more in the process of healthcare, such as through their ability to generate personal health data to their personalized web-based interface. It allows patients to have greater control of information flow between healthcare organizations and customers, and among customers themselves. In this study the authors investigate the extended role of healthcare staff that provide e-health services. The authors have developed e-health models that accommodate customers' participation to engage more actively in the healthcare system. Through the model the authors developed a prototype--namely Clinic 2.0. Clinic 2.0 is set up to facilitate interactions between healthcare providers and customers. In the proposed systems, the authors introduced Online Health Educator (OHE)--a healthcare staff that is specifically responsible for administering Clinic 2.0. The authors have conducted a survey in Indonesia to draw the expectation of participants regarding the important role of OHE in Clinic 2.0 through a semi-structured interview conducted with participants to further investigate the pivotal roles of OHE. The authors found that e-health services need OHE to achieve customers' satisfaction.

Abstract: Detecting self-care problems is one of important and challenging issues for occupational therapists, since it requires a complex and time-consuming process. Machine learning algorithms have been recently applied to overcome this issue. In this study, we propose a self-care prediction model called GA-XGBoost, which combines genetic algorithms (GAs) with extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) for predicting self-care problems of children with disability. Selecting the feature subset affects the model performance thus, we utilize GA to optimize finding the optimum feature subsets toward improving the model’s performance. To validate the effectiveness of GA-XGBoost, we present six experiments: comparing GA-XGBoost with other machine learning models and previous study results, a statistical significant test, impact analysis of feature selection and comparison with other feature selection methods, and sensitivity analysis of GA parameters. During the experiments, we use accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score to measure the performance of the prediction models. The results show that GA-XGBoost obtains better performance than other prediction models and the previous study results. In addition, we design and develop a web-based self-care prediction to help therapist diagnose the self-care problems of children with disabilities. Therefore, appropriate treatment/therapy could be performed for each child to improve their therapeutic outcome.

Abstract: The rise of financial technology (fintech) has been one of the substantial changes in the financial landscape driven by technological advancements and the global financial crisis. This paper employs the systematic literature review (SLR) technique to review recent literature on fintech adoption or acceptance employing the Scopus database (2019–2022). The final reviewed documents are sixteen journal articles published by various journals from different country contexts and theoretical backgrounds. Several inclusion criteria were used to filter those selected documents. One crucial criterion is the journal continuity in the Scopus index, which assures the quality of the published scholarly works. This criterion selection is expected to represent this paper’s novelty. The study reveals various determinants derived from the theories used by the fintech researchers. However, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) are the most used theoretical foundations. Additionally, trust, financial literacy, and safety are other factors developed by previous researchers and are significant determinants of fintech adoption. Besides, these results suggest that future studies on fintech adoption develop a genuine construct since fintech keeps progressing, and so does the customers’ behavior.

Abstract: The implementation of digital twin in e-government services will become the future of public service delivery. It has a great promise for significantly optimizing e-government service delivery in public services because digital twin can be leveraged to achieve value co-creation, which can be turned for innovation and new knowledge creation. The purpose of this study is to fill a knowledge gap in the domain of e-government with digital twin enabled. This study examined the concept of digital twins in the context of e-government for innovation management. This research applied exploratory research discussing a dynamic and interpretive model that examines the main factors to consider when developing digital twins for the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s integration of e-government services. This study begins with a thorough assessment and then evaluates the results to propose a model that would be used as a benchmark for future research. Secondary data was gathered from a variety of previously published primary research sources, including peer-reviewed journals, case studies, periodicals, newspapers and books. E-government with digital twin platform will become increasingly integral to business or public value creation and can be managed in idually as people and organizations expect much greater value for their well-being that is linked to a number of better outcomes. E-government with digital twin will no longer to be seen as a static web service but the next enabling platform to offer a comprehensive digital advisory for each and every user. The digital twin’s goal is to extract all of a user’s digital activity processes and thoroughly analyze them across all of e-services. When there are crucial issues or problems that need to be alerted to the (physical) user, the digital twin will present options, solutions and recommendations based on the entire gathered data continuum. This study is conducted to provide a better understanding of the digital twin’s impact on public service delivery in the future. When it comes to e-government, a digital twin is a digital representation of an in idual with the ability to integrate e-government services (such as e-citizenship, e-employment, e-participation, e-business, e-commerce, e-health, e-learning, e-regulation, e-entertainment and so on) with nearly real-time data and advanced analytics. In iduals will be able to improve, discover, foresee and make better and faster decisions as a result of the digital twin. The proposed model shows a future scenario for e-government services, in which the key principle of Industrial Revolution 4.0, Cyber Physical Systems, is accommodated by digital twins. This study provides academics, policymakers and practitioners in the fields of technology, public and/or private service delivery and public policy, with the opportunity to define priorities, processes and outcomes of e-government services and thereby benefit more directly from the findings of the study. This study presents some novel insights into e-government services the use of digital twins to optimize public service delivery.
