Abstract: The copper-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction between a propargyl-appended europium complex and azidomethylferrocene yields a d-f dyad whose photophysical properties can be reversibly switched by varying the oxidation state of the ferrocene chromophore.

Abstract: The self-assembly of higher order structures in water is realised by using the association of 1,3-biscarboxylates to binuclear meta-xylyl bridged DO3A complexes. Two dinicotinate binding sites are placed at a right-angle in a rhenium complex, which is shown to form a 1 : 2 complex with α,α'-bis(Eu·DO3A)-5-amino-m-xylene.

Abstract: Lanthanide based molecular probes for bioimaging rely on the antenna effect here we start unravelling the details of sensitized lanthanide luminescence.

Abstract: Alkyne appended lanthanide complexes derived from DO3A undergo copper catalysed cycloaddition reactions with azides to form triazole appended complexes: coordination of one of the triazole nitrogen atoms to the metal centre changes the local coordination environment and the spectroscopic properties of the complex.
