Abstract: Mobile health (mHealth) services have been widely used in medical services and health management through mobile devices and multiple channels, such as smartphones, wearable equipment, healthcare applications (Apps), and medical platforms. However, the number of the users who are currently receiving the mHealth services is small. In China, more than 70% of internet users have never used mHealth services. Such imbalanced situation could be attributed to users’ traditional concept of medical treatment, psychological factors (such as low self-efficacy) and privacy concerns. The purpose of this study is to explore the direct and indirect effects of mHealth users’ self-efficacy and privacy concerns on their intention to adopt mHealth services, providing guidelines for mHealth service providers to enhance users’ intention of adoption. A questionnaire was designed by the research team and 386 valid responses were collected from domestic participants in China. Based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, a research model integrated self-efficacy and privacy concerns was constructed to investigate their effects on users’ intention to adopt mobile mHealth services. The results show that self-efficacy could facilitate users’ intention to adopt mHealth services, and had a significantly positive effect on perceived ubiquity, effort expectancy, performance expectancy and subjective norm. This study verifies the direct and indirect effects of self-efficacy and privacy concerns on users’ intention to adopt mHealth services, providing a different perspective for studying mHealth adoption behavior. The findings could provide guidelines for mHealth service providers to improve their service quality and enhance users’ intention of adoption.

Abstract: As a vital market mechanism to mitigate global warming, the emissions trading system (ETS) has critical research and practice value. According to articles from Web of Science’s core collection, quantitative statistics are used to analyze the ETS, including statistics on the number of articles, distributions of time and geography, journals and subjects, productive authors and institutions, academic collation, article citations, and hot topics. Moreover, this paper presents a qualitative analysis of research on the ETS, exploring hot issues, including its origin, allowance allocation, the impact of allowance allocation, and the ETS in the power sector. The results show that it is necessary to launch ETS to mitigate climate change effectively and reduce emissions at a low cost. Allowance allocation as its critical component has also caused heated discussion among scholars. In allowance allocation, exploring a desire to assign the future allowable carbon emissions reasonably and efficiently is vital, yet scholars widely do not accept this. Moreover, free allocation can only be applied to the transitional stage, and auctioning will be inevitable. In addition, scholars have studied the impact of different allowance allocation schemes from macro and micro perspectives and take the power sector, namely the largest emitter, as an ex le, by linear programming, equilibrium modeling, and multi-agent modeling. However, the quota allocation scheme needs improvement due to firms’ accuracy of emission data. Finally, governments are encouraged to launch the ETS to reduce emissions and combat climate change. The ETS should be improved gradually, including aspects such as cap setting, covering sectors, and the allocation method. Additionally, some key emission sectors and regions can be taken as the research and practice objects in the initial stage of the ETS.

Abstract: Environmental emergency management is an important practical subject for local governments. Understanding the different dimensions of environmental emergency management capability is crucial for enabling a well-informed governance performance. Based on the crisis management 4R theory (comprising four stages: reduction, readiness, response and recovery), PPRR emergency management theory (emergency management is categorized into four stages: prevention, preparation, response and recovery), crisis life cycle theory and ISO 22320, this paper ided local government environmental emergency management capability into four dimensions of a dynamic pre–during–post process: preparedness, early warning, response and recovery. This paper applied a confirmatory factor analysis model to confirm the classification standards of the four capabilities, which are strongly correlated within environmental emergency management. We found that China’s local government environmental emergency management capability is generally at an upper-middle level, according to the empirical data. We also analyzed the regional differences in local government environmental emergency management capability across China and concluded that the environmental emergency management capability of local governments in the eastern region is higher than those in other regions. The capability levels in the central, western and northeastern regions are more similar to each other and show a decreasing distribution in the east–central–west–northeast region.

Abstract: Studying the coordination of varied freight modes from the perspective of geographic regions is conducive to understanding the regional differences, and this can provide effective countermeasures and suggestions for the sustainable and coordinated development of freight transport. To reflect on the effects of regional differences in the coordination of freight modes, we ided China into four regions: The East, Central, West, and Northeast. We examined freight mode coordination in terms of region and analysed the coordination of freight modes from three aspects: one within a single freight mode system, between varied freight modes, and among freight modes and the economy in different regions. We selected 19 freight indexes based on China’s freight data from 2008 to 2017, and determined the relationship between the freight index and economic index gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate by means of stability, co-integration, and the Granger causality test. The coordination models within a single freight mode and among varied freight modes were established, and we conducted spatial autocorrelation between the freight mode and the economy. The results demonstrated that in the four regions of China, the single-freight mode had coordination of over 0.80 the coordination between waterway and aviation freight transport was over 0.83 and the coordination of varied freight modes in the Eastern region exceeded 0.78, with good overall coordination. Among the four regions, the spatial correlation between the Eastern and Western regions was not significant, while the correlation between the Central and Northeast regions was significant. The model and analysis methods established in this study were feasible and effective. In view of the universality of the model, it can be easily applied and generalized in or out of China.

Abstract: As an important branch of the modern electronic health care services, mobile health applications (mHealth APP) have been widely accepted as a novel health care-providing platform. Based on mobile communications, mHealth is operated on smart terminals such as smart phones, tablet computers, wireless devices or wearable devices, providing multi-channel, multi-terminal and multi-network services. Because mHealth is not restricted by time and space, it serves as a more effective disease management tool for communications between patients and medical workers. In the background of “Internet+”, this study aims to explore the internal adoption behavior of mHealth users to improve the efficiency of medical services, reduce medical costs, and enrich the “Internet + medical health” research. Guided by the push-pull-mooring framework (PPM), this study proposes a conceptual model of mHealth users’ adoption behavior. A specially designed survey was used to collect data on users’ adoption behavior (n = 183). SPSS 25.0 (Guiyang, China) and AMOS 21.0 are used for data analysis. The results show that users’ adoption attitude partially mediates the relationship between the adoption intentions and three key factors (inconvenience, APP attractiveness, and high risk). The adoption intention also partially mediates the relationship between adoption attitude and adoption behavior. Peer influence does not have a direct effect on adoption intention, but it shows a statistically significant indirect effect on adoption intention and adoption behavior through adoption attitude. The negative effect of high switching cost is not significant for both adoption attitude and adoption intention. This study elucidates the internal mechanisms underlying mHealth users’ adoption behavior. The findings can help mHealth providers to arouse more users’ adoption behavior, improve the quality of medical services, and reduce medical costs.

Abstract: Mature methanol vehicle technology with low exhaust emissions and economic benefits are a viable way to mitigate oil dependency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, pilot projects for methanol vehicles have been carried out in 10 different cities in China over the last decade. They positively affect the economy and the environment, as shown by the acceptance results. This study chronologically reviewed the previous development and adopted pertinent policies determine the feasibility of deploying methanol vehicles from national to provincial levels. Based on the analysis and evaluations, the local government is suggested to make the following dynamic policy recommendations: (a) Before reaching the “carbon peak”, development strategies should be formulated according to the resource situation of each region. Priority should be given to the deployment of coal-to-methanol vehicles and bio-methanol vehicles to maximize the economy, so as to promote the construction of transmission and distribution systems, advance the manufacturing process of methanol fuel, and prepare the technology for the next stage. (b) In the second stage, the advancement of CO2-to-methanol technology should be promoted, focusing on the development of green methanol vehicles to better contribute to the “carbon neutrality”.

Abstract: An air-cooling battery thermal management system is a reliable and cost-effective system to control the operating temperatures of the electric vehicle battery pack within an ideal range. Different from most designs of the rectangular battery pack in previous research, this one proposed a novel isosceles trapezoid layout to improve system heat dissipations. The simulation results showed that the trapezoid design delivered better cooling performances than the rectangular one with a maximum temperature reduction of 0.9 °C and maximum temperature difference reduction of 1.17 °C at the inlet air flow rate of 60 L/s. Moreover, the cooling performance was further boosted by an aluminum heat spreader. The boosted design delivers an average Max T (32.95 °C) and an average ΔT (3.10 °C) at five different flow rates, which are 8.8% and 66.1% lower the one without the spreader (35.85 °C and 5.15 °C). Compared with the rectangular design without the spreader, the average Max T and ΔT of the boosted trapezoid design are reduced by 10.4% and 91.9% in addition to a space-saving of about 5.26%.

Abstract: To enhance domestic energy security and reduce air pollution, China has accelerated the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles including methanol vehicles since the 2010s. Already completed pilot projects have demonstrated that methanol vehicles (commercial fleet) are economical, environmentally friendly, and technically mature. Therefore, the Chinese government aims to continually deploy methanol vehicles in coal-rich provinces. There are more than 20,000 methanol taxis in operation in China, it is important to evaluate the existing consumer acceptance of such commercial fleet before commercialization in a wider range. This paper proposes a conceptual model to identify consumer acceptance of methanol taxis. The model generates hypotheses that have been tested using surveys completed by taxi drivers of methanol vehicles in the cities of Xi’an (Shaanxi province) and Guiyang (Guizhou province). Results demonstrate that market, economic, and technological concerns strongly determine the consumer acceptance of the commercial fleet of methanol vehicles in China.

Abstract: The power gap between supply and demand in the microgrid caused by the uncertainty of wind and solar output and users’ electricity consumption needs to be absorbed by the hybrid energy storage devices and the demand-side electricity price response. To maximize the service life of the lithium battery pack, this paper optimizes a reasonable ratio of the supercapacitor pack’s daily charge and discharge times to the daily cycle times of the lithium battery pack. The model construction includes two parts: power prediction and multi-objective optimization modeling. In the case study, a microgrid district under the Guizhou Power Grid is analyzed and discussed. Based on the predicted wind output, solar output, and load demand on a certain day, the optimal scheduling results have been obtained. On the one hand, a reasonable ratio regarding the daily charge and discharge times of hybrid energy storage devices has been obtained under the optimized parameter k in the model. Correspondingly, the daily operation and maintenance of the lithium battery pack is minimum. On the other hand, when the hybrid energy storage devices and demand-side electricity price response are included and not, the changes on the supply and demand sides (a) and of three evaluation indicators (b) are compared, respectively. Thus, the effectiveness of the model in this paper is verified.

Abstract: The development of internet technology enables mobile medical health (mHealth) applications (Apps) to provide users with health services. The content presentation of apps is an important factor affecting users’ adoption of mHealth Apps. This study aims to examine the effect of the content presentation of mHealth Apps on users’ adoption intention, using the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) theory as the theoretical framework. A model of the effect of the content presentation of mHealth Apps on users’ intention to adopt, integrating perceived value and trust, was constructed. Furthermore, a quantitative study using a questionnaire survey was carried out to test the model. The analysis shows that platform information presentation, guidance information presentation, and relational information presentation indirectly have a significant positive effect on willingness toward participation and recommendation through the mediating effect of perceived value or trust. All three presentations have a significant positive effect on perceived value. Platform information presentation has a significant positive effect on trust in contrast to the other two presentations. In addition, the results reveal that perceived value and trust have a significant positive effect on willingness toward participation and recommendation, respectively. However, the effect of perceived value on trust is not significant. This work could provide measures and suggestions to improve users’ intention to adopt mHealth Apps as well as help researchers, developers, service providers, and app users to use and improve this modern mobile medical service.

Abstract: To boost the performance of the air-cooling battery thermal management system, this study designed a novel vortex adjustment structure for the conventional air-cooling battery pack used in electric vehicles. T-shape vortex generating columns were proposed to be added between the battery cells in the battery pack. This structure could effectively change the aerodynamic patterns and thermodynamic properties of the battery pack, including turbulent eddy frequency, turbulent kinetic energy, and average Reynolds number, etc. The modified aerodynamic patterns and thermodynamic properties increased the heat transfer coefficient with little increase in energy consumption and almost no additional cost. Different designs were also evaluated and optimized under different working conditions. The results showed that the cooling performance of the Design 1 improved at both low and high air flow rates. At a small flow rate of 11.88 L/s, the Tmax and ΔT of Design 1 are 0.85 K and 0.49 K lower than the conventional design with an increase in pressure drop of 0.78 Pa. At a relative high flow rate of 47.52 L/s, the Tmax and ΔT of the Design 1 are also 0.46 K and 0.13 K lower than the conventional design with a slight increase in pressure drop of 17.88 Pa. These results demonstrated that the proposed vortex generating design can improve the cooling performance of the battery pack, which provides a guideline for the design and optimization of the high-performance air-cooling battery thermal management systems in electric vehicles.

Abstract: The burgeoning digital economy has facilitated a transformation and upgraded within the energy industry, which, in return, continually guarantees robust energy security for the expansion of the digital economy. China’s digital economy and energy sector have increasingly merged and innovated in the domains of technology, market, and operations in recent years. Consequently, an accurate assessment of the interplay between these two sectors and their evolving patterns is vital for policy formulation and execution concerning their joint development. Drawing on 14,520 authoritative departmental statistics from 30 Chinese provinces spanning 2011 to 2021, this study applies techniques such as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)-Malmquist, grey correlation, and objective empowerment to develop a quantitative evaluation model for the reciprocal evolution of these industries finding that the own synergistic evolutionary effect of these two industries experienced fluctuations, declining from 0.8512 and 0.7535 in 2012 to 0.4590 and 0.4378 in 2021, respectively. Conversely, the comprehensive synergistic evolutionary effect between industries increased from 0.5879 in 2012 to 0.6841 in 2021. Building upon these findings, a series of development proposals are put forth to provide valuable insights and recommendations for advancing the high-level coordinated development of China’s digital economy and energy industry.
