Abstract: Events in the tectono-magmatic framework of the Eocene Bulfat Igneous Complex in the Kurdistan region of northeastern Iraq are revealed through the integrated field, petrographic, geochemical and zircon petrography and U–Pb geochronology of the Qaladeza trondhjemite sheets that cut gabbros of the complex. The trondhjemite sheets are variably deformed, with the cataclasis of large plagioclase feldspars. The trondhjemites are albitic, and geochemical features such as strong enrichment of the light REE relative to the heavy REE and low Ti and REE content show that they did not form as late differentiates of a MORB-like source, but instead by hydrous partial melting of mafic rocks, possibly also involving some more evolved crustal source as well. Qaladeza trondhjemite oscillatory-zoned magmatic zircon has an age of 48.0 ± 0.6 Ma (95% confidence). These domains have been etched to form voids in the zircons, the walls of which have thin coatings of Th- and Ca-bearing species. Subsequent partial recrystallization of the zircons obliterated the voids and increased the Th/U of the recrystallized zircon, which mostly formed at 38.74 ± 0.74 Ma. The 48 Ma domains relate to recycling of mafic crust in a proto-arc tectonic setting and are congruent with Eocene proto-arc magmatic activity within the Neotethyan oceanic basin. The 39 Ma domains relate to later tectonic-induced recrystallisation events coeval with the closure of Neotethys resulting from the late Eocene collision between the Arabian plate and Eurasia in Kurdistan.

Abstract: In underground mines, physical layer security (PLS) technology is a promising method for the effective and secure communication to monitor the mining process. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the PLS of an lify-and-forward relay-aided system in power monitoring and communication systems for mining, with the consideration of multiple eavesdroppers. Explicitly, we propose a PLS scheme of cooperative jamming and precoding for a full-duplex system considering imperfect channel state information. To maximize the secrecy rate of the communications, an effective block coordinate descent algorithm is used to design the precoding and jamming matrix at both the source and the relay. Furthermore, the effectiveness and convergence of the proposed scheme with high channel state information uncertainty have been proven.

Abstract: The gabbroic rocks as a part of Zagros ophiolite are exposed in northeastern Iraq, Penjwin area. These rocks with granular to ophitic textures are widely distributed without metamorphic halos. The main minerals are plagioclase (An90-99), olivine, clinopyroxene (Wo27-47 En 45-64 Fs8-14) and orthopyroxene (Wo2 En78 Fs20) respectively based on the abundances. The major elements show a broad range of compositional variations, with SiO2 (46.2–50.9 wt. %), and low concentrations Na2O (0.15–0.62 wt. %), K2O (0.01–0.03 wt. %) and TiO2 (0.06–0.2) and high concentrations, Al2O3 (6.4–19.75 wt. %), total Fe2O3 (6.29–11.6 wt. %), MgO (9.63–24.5 wt. %), CaO (8.02–18 wt. %) and low alkali contents (Na2O + K2O = 0.16–0.65 wt. %). On Ti-V diagram, all of the gabbroic s les have Ti/V less than 10 and consequently fall in the low Ti- Island arc tholeiitic. Whole rocks chemistry shows a depletion of High field strength elements in comparison with the primitive mantle with an arched upward rare earth elements pattern, characterized by light rare earth elements depletion (La N/Sm N = 0.05–0.8) and enrichment in the High field strength elements. Whole rocks chemistry, mineral paragenesis and chemistry of these rocks are more consistent with tholeiitic magma series. Based on our findings in this research, the primary magma has been produced from the depleted mantle with a high degree of partial melting.

Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchains are enabling technologies for modern healthcare applications, offering the improved monitoring of patient health and higher data integrity guarantees. However, in rural settings, communication reliability can pose a challenge that constrains real-time data usage. Additionally, the limited computation and communication resources of IoT sensors also means that they may not participate directly in blockchain transactions, reducing trust. This paper proposes a solution to these challenges, enabling the use of blockchain-based IoT healthcare devices in low-bandwidth rural areas. This integrated system, named hybrid channel healthcare chain (HC2), uses two communication channels: short-range communication for device authorisation and bulk data transfer, and long-range the radio for light-weight monitoring and event notifications. Both channels leverage the same cryptographic identity information, and through the use of a cloud-based digital twin, the IoT device is able to sign its own transactions, without disclosing the key to said twin. Patient data are encrypted end to end between the IoT device and data store, with the blockchain providing a reliable record of the data lifecycle. We contribute a model, analytic evaluation and proof of concept for the HC2 system that demonstrates its suitability for the stated scenarios by reducing the number of long-range radio packets needed by 87× compared to a conventional approach.

Abstract: Polymer films based on polyethylene (PE) and ionomer ethylene/methacrylic acid (EMAA) copolymer blend were prepared by film blowing, whose surface properties were tuned by varying processing parameters, i.e., take up ratio (TUR). Blends of PE/EMAA copolymer were firstly prepared by the melt-mixing method, before being further blown to films. The wettability of the film was investigated by measuring the contact angle/water-film encounter time, and optical properties, i.e., the haze and transmittance. The wettability was found to be enhanced with the increase of TUR. So too was the haze, while the transmittance was found to be almost independent of TUR. The XPS and AFM results directly show the increasing polar functional groups (–COO−) on the surface and roughness with increasing TUR. Further analysis of the 2D SAXS and WAXS unveiled the origin of the invariant transmittance, which resulted from the minor change of the crystallinity and the monotonic increase of the haze, with TUR resulting from the evolution of crystal orientation. In addition to other post-modification methods, the current study provides an alternative route to prepare large-scale PE films as the template for the advanced potential applications, i.e., covering in the layer of roof, the privacy of protective windows, and multitudes of packaging.
