Abstract: style="text-align: justify " This study aimed to determine the effect of cognitive and affective factors on the performance of prospective mathematics teachers. Cognitive factors include cognitive independence level and working memory capacity, while affective factor include math anxiety. Mathematical performance was then assessed as basic math skills, advanced math skills and problem-solving ability. This research combined quantitative and qualitative research methods. In order to determine the effects of cognitive independence, working memory capacity, and math anxiety on math performance, multiple regression tests were used. To then see the effects of these three factors on problem-solving ability, a qualitative approach was used. Eighty-seven prospective math teachers participated in this study. Based on the results of the multiple regression, it was found that the level of cognitive independence affects basic math skills but has no effect on advanced math skills. Working memory capacity was seen to positively affect math performance (basic and advanced math skills, problem-solving skills), while mathematics anxiety demonstrated negative effects on advanced math skills and problem-solving skills.

Abstract: Students with special needs are students who need special treatment, especially in terms of learning, apart from being limited in communication and knowledge they also have limitations in learning mathematics. One type of students with disabilities is deaf students. The purpose of this study was to describe how students understand mathematics, especially geometry material (shape rectangle) using cardboard media. The research subjects consisted of one female student with hearing loss seventh grade at the Inclusive School in Gresik Jawa Timur Indonesia. The selected research subjects are students with moderate hearing impairment to enable an interaction between researcher and subject. The research instrument uses video records to see how the subject understands (geometry) rectangular shapes through cardboard media and when students work on a given problem, photos to refer the results of student work, and written test in worksheets to get the data on student 'work. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis by describing students' understanding in understanding rectangular shapes using cardboard media. The results showed that using visual objects students found it easier to identify geometric shapes based on their physical appearance. However, students had difficulty in defining rectangular shapes and did not find a relationship between rectangular shapes and square shapes. Deaf students in this study generally use the different ways that the students generally in expressing his understanding of the shapes rectangle.

Abstract: This quantitative study aimed the first to investigate the working memory capacity and mathematics anxiety of mathematics undergraduate students based on differences in sex and grade. The second to know the effect of working memory capacity and mathematics anxiety on mathematics achievement. The t-test and MANOVA-test were used to answer the first aim of the study and the multiple linear regression test was used to answer the second aim. A total of 90 students participated in this study which was obtained by cluster random s ling. The results showed that the working memory capacity of male students was greater than female students. The working memory capacity of first-year students was greater than the second and the third-year students. While there was no difference in students' mathematical anxiety seen from the difference in sex and grade. Based on multiple linear regression test, there was a significant negative effect of mathematics anxiety on mathematics achievement. This result illustrated that the higher mathematics anxiety the lower the mathematical achievement. The results of this study indicated that one importance factor to improve the mathematics achievement of mathematics undergraduate students, can be done by finding a strategy to reduced the level of mathematics anxiety.

Abstract: The aim in study was to analyze the characteristics and levels of mathematical communication of students in solving mathematical problems. This study used a qualitative descriptive study with 6 of prospective teacher, 3 students from STIKIP Bangkalan and 3 prospective teacher students from STIKIP Al Hikmah Surabaya, Indonesia. Research data collection techniques through documentation of teaching preparation assignments, and video recordings during learning to obtain verbal mathematical communication. The comparison method is still used to analyze the data through the stages of data condensation, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The results show that the characteristics of mathematical communication consist of accurate, complete, smooth, and systematic. Each subject has different characteristics. The prospective teacher students with high-level communication can explain accurately, completely, fluently, and systematically facts, concepts, procedures, operations, and principles. For prospective teacher students with intermediate levels of mathematical communication can explain accurately, fluently, and systematically facts, concepts, procedures, operations, and mathematical principles. Whereas for low-level prospective teacher students, they can explain mathematics accurately.
