Child maltreatment is a significant public health issue. This research will identify child, family and community risk factors which increase vulnerability to child maltreatment. Mental health outcomes for these children will be investigated, including the increased risk that children with disabilities have in experiencing maltreatment. International comparisons of trends will be conducted for maltreatment-related hospital admissions. These findings will inform child maltreatment surveillance, prevention and intervention strategies.
