Funded Activity Summary

A Critique of the Environmental Impact and Adequacy of Australia's Urban Water Storages. Providers are concerned that urban water storages will be inadequate to cater for future growth, despite improved water management at institutional and personal level. Environmental concerns exist over many existing storages, and discussion of new facilities is met with principled opposition in some quarters. An independent critique, drawing on engineering and environmental information will be of use to policy makers and to the community. The independence of the Academy and the expertise that resides within its Fellowship will give the final report considerable status and assist in community understanding and in policy making by Governments.
