Funded Activity Summary

Impact of urban water conservation strategies on end-use water consumption in residential households. This research project will deliver the following social or economic benefits for Australia: (1) save over twenty per cent of household water consumption; (2) deferment of the construction of environmentally adverse water infrastructure facilities such as desalination plants, dams and water treatment plants; (3) water security will improve due to lower water consumption rates allowing governments to better plan new water resource options; and (4) through the implementation of more efficient water fixtures/appliances, households will not only save money due to lower water bills, but they will also be contributing lower greenhouse gases to the atmosphere by reducing the amount of energy required to produce and treat potable water.
