Emotions of Power: Strategic affection in the correspondence of Catherine de Medici. This project investigates the hitherto under-researched correspondence of Catherine de Medici. Taking into account emerging trends in scholarship on women and on elite correspondence, it will provide new insights into early modern female political participation and power, and a new view of Catherine's own activities. The project promises an exciting new analysis of a leading individual at the heart of early modern history.
