Funded Activity Summary

Trigger development and first physics with the Belle II experiment. Particle physics aims to understand the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions. This project aims to address long standing puzzles of matter, such as the origin of fundamental particle masses and the cosmological dark matter abundance, with the intensity-frontier Belle II detector and SuperKEKB collider complex in Japan. The project aims to secure the Australian position at the forefront of particle physics by leading the data preparation for Belle II, its ensuing detector commissioning and data analysis. It is expected that this project will provide unique insight in our endeavour to complete the theory of the universe at the smallest scale.
