Funded Activity Summary

The roles of metal complexes and related metalloproteins in the essential and therapeutic control of diabetes. Metal supplements, such as chromium, are consumed widely for purported fat reduction and anti-diabetic activities but pose potential efficacy, safety and essentiality, problems. This project will provide fundamental insights into how they exert their anti-diabetic effects and can be made safer and/or more efficacious for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
