Towards Quantum Electromechanical Devices with Semiconductor Nanowires. More importantly, semiconductor nanowires and nanorods represent a novel nanosystem being intensely researched world wide for applications in high efficiency solar cells, ultra bright light emitting diodes, single photon emitters, fast post CMOS wrap-gate field effect transistors, high efficiency thermoelectric devices and chemical sensing. The current proposal thus helps to ensure Australias forefront involvement in this quickly evolving and highly promising research field.
