Funded Activity Summary

Next generation solid state qubits. This project aims to develop proposals for the next generation of solid state quantum bits, enabling quantum computers that can solve real world problems. The project will address the lack of sufficiently good physical quantum bits, one of the most important bottlenecks for the realisation of a quantum computer. Key expected outcomes include new proposals for quantum computing architectures that can be implemented with current technology, and a deepened understanding of the interplay between noise, quantum hardware design and error correction. Benefits include enabling new milestone experiments in quantum computing, insight into the potential for near-term quantum computers, and accelerating the development of useful quantum computers.
