Funded Activity Summary

Neural integration of feedforward and feedback circuits for decision-making. The aim of this project is to discover how cells in the brain combine different types of information to allow decisions to be made. This project will focus on the part of the brain that integrates multiple sources of information to guide choices to accomplish behavioural goals. Using novel electrophysiological and engineering techniques, this project intends to measure the influence of sensory and cognitive information relayed by other brain areas, and to determine how this correlates with behaviour. The intended outcome of this project is a new understanding of how information is processed in brain cells. This should benefit the development of neural engineering devices.
