Funded Activity Summary

Polymetallic Water Oxidation Catalysts for Artificial Photosynthesis. The global energy crisis requires practical solutions regarding the development of clean and renewable alternatives to fossil fuels. This project aims to focus on the development of molecular water oxidation catalysts which is the crucial step in the utilisation of solar energy. The proposed polynuclear molecular materials will be based on earth-abundant elements and are expected to present enhanced catalytic activities for light-driven oxidation of water into oxygen. Development of these compounds will advance knowledge and breakthroughs in the area of artificial photosynthesis and generate numerous economic and environmental benefits.
