Funded Activity Summary

Dissect Fibre Nonlinearity in Few-mode Fibre Transmission. The exponential growth of internet traffic poses great challenges in the physical layer. This project aims to explore the fibre nonlinearity impact on few-mode fibre transmission through a mixture of theoretical analysis, computer simulation, and experimental demonstration. The scope of the research encompasses study of few-mode fibre nonlinear propagation in dispersive fibre optic channels, and advanced digital signal processing for fibre nonlinearity characterisation. Successful execution of the project will provide valuable understanding of nonlinearity of few-mode fibre transmission.
