Funded Activity Summary

'The who, why, what, where and when of primary youth mental healthcare: 5W is a large program of studies involving data linkage of 18 Victorian health and administrative datasets to examine service trajectories, patterns of health service utilisation and identify subgroups of young people with varying health needs. Our understanding of the range of health and human services that young people depend on to support their mental health and wellbeing remains limited. These studies aim to identify gaps both within and between services, as well as across sectors. The studies involve ongoing consultation and engagement with young people and key stakeholders to inform interpretation and dissemination of findings. We will provide a comprehensive evaluation of the clinical characteristics of young people, their broader health and human service utilisation behaviour and typical pathways through care, that could not be gleaned from examining datasets in isolation.
