Funded Activity Summary

The %23chatsafe in schools program has three components. The first component is not part of the research project, but is part of the broader program and ensures the safety and preparedness of schools participating in the research component. In the first component, teachers and school staff will be invited to participate in a staff PD and consult. This PD will walk staff through the %23chatsafe for educators resource and give staff an opportunity to discuss their experiences and ask questions about how they can best support their students. The second component will deliver psycho-education sessions to students. These sessions will include information about mental health, suicide, self-harm, help-seeking, the %23chatsafe guidelines, and ethical design strategies when it comes to sharing information about mental health on social media. The third and final component will involve students in co-design workshops, where they are able to define and design %23chatsafe content that they believe will be helpful for students their age.
