Funded Activity Summary

Staggered Pathways: Temporality, Mobility and Asian Temporary Migrants. Migration and mobility between Australia and Asia is becoming more temporary and more fluid. This project aims to investigate the lived experience and the governance of migration flows from Asia to Australia, at local, national and transnational scales. It seeks to analyse and visualise complex migrant journeys across borders and regions, across time and across visa statuses and labour markets. Key research questions include how migration policy and migrant's decisions and experiences influence each other, and the effects of new types of mobility in the Asia-Pacific region on both transnationalism and migrant's sense of belonging over time.
