The research sets out to understand how significant job losses affect mental and physical health, the demand for housing assistance, social networks, the use of social services and the welfare of children. The research makes use of a longitudinal survey of workers who have left the employment of Mitsubishi Motors and compares their experiences and welfare with a group of workers from General Motors.
