Funded Activity Summary

Indigenous peoples’ experiences of cyberbullying: An assemblage approach. The proposed project aims to explore Indigenous peoples’ experiences of cyberbullying. Little is known about how Indigenous people understand, experience and respond to cyberbullying. This project expects to generate new knowledge on what has been described as a ‘national crisis’, with documented correlation with self-harm and suicide. Expected outcomes of this project include the development of detailed site-based ethnographies focusing on Indigenous students, parents, Elders and LGBTQI community members. This should provide significant benefits, including advancing academic scholarship and public understanding of cyberbullying, informing policy and program development, and generating Indigenous-specific educational resources.
