Dynamics of droplets and nanoparticles in turbulent flames. This project aims to study the dynamics of liquid fragments and the morphology of synthesised nanoparticles in atomising spray flames. Outcomes will include experimental databases and predictive models for atomising spray flames and nanoparticle inception, as well as a novel atomiser for flame spray pyrolysis. These will provide significant benefits to researchers and industry working on the optimisation of nanostructured material synthesis for smart sensors and catalysts, and the next generation efficient and low emission combustion engines.
