This project aims to investigate and develop techniques to improve customer relationship management (CRM) for public and private organisations. It aims to develop an intelligent framework to assist in adaptive marketing and management of customers. The framework is designed to manage multiple information resources for information sharing, and to synthesise knowledge through visualisation. Intended outcomes are standardised XML profiles for the different data sets and business processes, novel techniques for conjoint mining of structured and semi-structured data, and adaptive business intelligence techniques. The results will be validated using large real-world data sets provided by the partner organisation.Read moreRead less

Predictive analytics from at home telemonitoring of vital signs. This project aims to reduce unscheduled admissions to hospital, by developing statistical models of people’s health using longitudinal measurements of vital signs and questionnaires. Hospital costs are becoming unsustainable and will overwhelm state budgets within thirty years. Telehealth monitoring to manage chronic disease is becoming increasingly routine internationally and should reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and health service costs. To scale up telehealth services nationally, automated means of assessing changes in an individual health status are needed. This project’s automated risk assessment models are expected to identify exacerbations and orchestrate an optimal response from health services to reduce unscheduled admissions to hospital.Read moreRead less
The Intended and Unintended Impact of Policy for Adaptive Policy Management. The project aims to advance knowledge about the intended and unintended consequences of policy on health and well-being. The project aims to advance knowledge about the intended and unintended consequences of policy on health and well-being. It expects to innovate through new methods and novel data to integrate policy evaluation into the policy cycle in a timely fashion to prevent harm from occurring. It also leverages technology to track policy effects in real time. Expected outcomes of this project include new knowledge and enhanced policy infrastructure using new methods and interdisciplinary approaches. Significant benefits include improvements to: (1) policy management by government departments; (2) the health and wellbeing of the Australians they serve; (3) our Partners' capacity to consult governments on how technology can assist policy management. This project aims to test Alternative Listening Devices/Personal Sound Amplification Devices (PSAPs), multi-input audio devices fast replacing hearing aids due to their affordability and easy accessibility. With more consumers choosing PSAPs, proper testing is needed to assess the devices’ safety and benefit in real-life acoustic situations. This project will test PSAPs in laboratory setups that use spatial audio processing techniques to mimic realistic acoustic environments, and develop theoretical frameworks to overcome existing limitations to accurate spatial sound reproduction. This research is expected to provide innovative solutions to safeguard Australia's future hearing health.Read moreRead less
Multi-level analysis of human resource management systems on hospital outcomes. This project explores the relationships among human resource management systems, perceived organisational support, trust-in-management and commitment of healthcare workers. The fundamental aim is to assist hospital managers to determine where to direct their efforts to have maximum impact upon staff and hospital performance.
Exploring processes of change in parenting interventions for high-risk parents. This study will identify the timing and triggers of change in parents as they participate over 18 months in an intensive therapeutic parenting program. The findings will inform planners and service providers about the most effective features of such programs to facilitate change in parents at risk of abuse and neglect of their children.
Reforming healthcare: Nurse Practitioners and workforce redesign. This unique national study investigates the progress, process and outcomes of nurse practitioner service. It brings together peak national nursing organisations and state Chief Nursing Officers and researchers who are known both nationally and internationally for innovative research into nurse practitioner service. This unique national study investigates the progress, process and outcomes of nurse practitioner service. It brings together peak national nursing organisations and state Chief Nursing Officers and researchers who are known both nationally and internationally for innovative research into nurse practitioner service. It has widespread significance for health service providing an operational platform to implement and evaluate new roles in health service delivery. It will inform health service modelling, theory building and national strategies to achieve promotion and maintenance of good health. For the first time in the history of Australian health service a new level of provider will be examined close to the point of its inception.Read moreRead less

Improving written and spoken communication in clinical handover will significantly reduce critical incidents in hospitals. The link between communication and critical incidents in hospitals is well documented. One third of the $2 billion p.a. direct financial costs to Australia of critical incidents, is attributed to poor communication between clinicians. National and international governments and health agencies have targeted clinical handover as critical in safe, effective health care. This project will generate new knowledge of handover to significantly improve patient safety and enable health professionals to enhance their communicative practices, thereby improving the quality of the patient journey through the hospital system.Read moreRead less

As Australian Indigenous corporations are fundamental to economic participation and social provision in the nation’s Indigenous communities this project will contribute to increasing and sustaining social and economic participation in these communities. While there is a new Act governing Australian Indigenous corporations there has been little work to evaluate the implementation and implications of the Act. Therefore this project is timely and important. The fundamental question is how these organisations can both serve the needs of their local communities and meet broader accountability obligations expected of them. This issue is fundamental to the delivery of state funded services and benefits to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.Read moreRead less
Mining complex concurrency relationship patterns for dynamic customer/asset interaction modelling through novel industrial behaviour networks . This project will develop novel data mining algorithms to model the evolution of concurrency relationships between customers and assets. It will take into account multiple aspect factors for a business such as seasonality, government policy, and other external events, for making fast, accurate, and efficient business decisions.
