2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Trials To Prevent The Transmission And Complications Of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Including HIV

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $306,123.00
    Summary
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are important causes of illness in some sectors of the community. Even though they can be effectively prevented and treated, many health services do not give them priority. This research project will study ways in which general practitioners can better diagnose and treat STIs. We will carry out trials that compare new approaches to supporting doctors in this area, that involve a mixture of training, reminders and technical support as needed.

Exploring The Potential For Built Environment Intervention To Improve Adult And Child Physical Activity And Health

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $309,428.00
    Summary
Health-promoting behaviours - such as physical activity - that are maintained from childhood to adulthood have a positive effect on health status. My research will examine aspects of the built environment associated with child behaviour, health and development and use these findings to formulate recommendations to key stakeholders for the design of user-friendly, active-living environments for children and interventions targeting adults.

Novel Pathways Toward Improving Relapse Prediction In Schizophrenia

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $318,768.00
    Summary
Relapse is a devastating problem in schizophrenia and our ability to predict when it occurs is still relatively poor. This project seeks to investigate a new method of tracking relapse by measuring speech and symptom changes across time. This novel design is supported by advanced data modelling methods to provide sensitive predictive ability. This project has the potential to significantly improve relapse prediction in schizophrenia and so support and increase beneficial outcomes for patients

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $295,450.00
    Summary
This project combines information from four large studies that have been carried out in Australia, the United States, and Finland that have collected measures on the same participants during childhood and again during adulthood, to determine an effective means of identifying children at risk of developing premature cardiovascular disease.

The Role Of Emerging Gastrointestinal Viruses In The First Two Years Of Life: A Birth Cohort Study

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $392,534.00
    Summary
Gastro illnesses are common and potentially serious early in life. We are aiming to find out more about these illnesses by following ~140 children from birth to their second birthday, with parents collecting a dirty nappy swab every week. Our laboratory will test these samples for a wide range of known and new gastro viruses, and we will also be looking for, as yet, undiscovered viruses. This information will allow us to document the burden of these illnesses in young children and their families .... Gastro illnesses are common and potentially serious early in life. Using Lessons From The United Kingdom To Improve The Reproductive Health Of Aboriginal Adolescent Women

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $419,768.00
    Summary
I will examine if parity and pre and post natal exercise can prevent urinary incontinence among older women in a large cohort study in the United Kingdom and use these skills to examine the contraceptive use of Aboriginal adolescent females and influence pre and post natal programs in four Aboriginal communities. The more knowledge and support Aboriginal adolescent females have the higher chances of them making informed decisions about their reproductive health.

Improving Warfarin Management- Identifying Risk Factors For Bleeding And Improving Monitoring Mechanisms

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $291,309.00
    Summary
Warfarin is a drug commonly used in the elderly to prevent blood clots. While a very effective drug, it is also a dangerous drug and should be closely monitored. While we know many of the reasons why problems occur, we do not know whether organisation of care, mental health or social issues such as community support influence how well warfarin is managed. These are important questions to answer, so that we can make significant inroads into preventing death and disability from warfarin.
