Focusing on regional and outer-urban youth, this project seeks to explore how young people are responding to these conditions, examining the role of employment in youth identities and analysing how young people actively integrate the skills and capacities for labour into their identities and overall approach to life. Addressing the deficit in men's participation in paid care work. This project aims to address the chronic and ongoing underrepresentation of men in front line, low paid occupations in the Health Care and Social Assistance Sector by exploring how men already employed in the sector overcome the barriers to participating in such jobs. Utilising a qualitative methodology, this project expects to generate new theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of critical studies of men and masculinity ....Addressing the deficit in men's participation in paid care work. Career mobility in educational markets: a sociological study of how families reconcile priorities. Family units have to reconcile career opportunities with educational opportunities, which can make decisions about moving complex. This project will survey police, health and education professionals with family responsibilities about how their families balance career opportunities in rural and remote areas, with education strategies.

This research will produce new knowledge about the sustainability of social enterprise based transitional labour market programs, and contribute to the development of such programs nationally and internationally.
