2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

To Repair An Osteo-chondral Defect In An Experimental Rabbit Model Using A Structured 3D Nano-composite Scaffold Loaded With Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC)

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $92,314.00
    Summary
The treatment of cartilage damage is a major problem in orthopaedic practice. The use of a 3D scaffold may overcome many challenges associated with cartilage and bone repair and regeneration. The aim of this research is to culture bone and cartilage cells into a prefabricated scaffold which may then be tested in an animal model. The results of this research may offer a new method of treating post-traumatic and osteoarthritic defects.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $104,985.00
    Summary
Hair root as a rapidly self-renewing tissue is an ideal source of cells for tissue engineering. In this study these accessible and multipotential cells are used to generate pancreas and heart tissue. Engineered pancreas and heart tissue is potential source of treatment for diabetes and heart disease.

Cellular And Molecular Aspects Of Mammographic Density As A Predictor Of Breast Cancer Risk In Pseudo-orthotopic Mammatrophic Environment

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $113,322.00
    Summary
High mammographic density (MD), or denser breast tissue on mammogram, is associated with greater breast cancer risk. Despite this, the basis for its increased risk is poorly understood. This study assesses the effect of high density breast tissue transferred from high risk women at time of mastectomy into tissue engineering chambers in mice. Changes in the connective tissue harvested from the chamber were examined with specialized imaging, laboratory stains and molecular analysis.

Manipulating The Anabolic And Catabolic Responses For Bone Tissue Engineering

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $58,202.00
    Summary
The repair of large bone defects represents a significant clinical problem. Evolving tissue engineering technologies may lead to significant improvements in orthopaedic treatments for these problems. We plan to compare novel biological approaches designed to maximise new bone formation while preventing bone resorption with existing synthetic graft materials. Our research data will be readily translated from the laboratory to a clinical setting.
