The Open Innovation Process: Factors and Technologies that Matter. This project aims to identify approaches to enable firms to find and introduce ideas through open innovation. Open innovation, with its focus on external sources of ideas, is a promising approach for increasing organisational innovation. While uptake of open innovation is on the increase, the lack of understanding of practices and technologies used to successfully introduce it into firms, limits its usefulness and results in wasted resources. This project aims to investigate open innovation and relevant technologies to identify success factors for the idea generation and assessment phases of open innovation, develop guidelines for their application, identify effective technologies and related recommendations for use, and quantify their impact on innovation.

Data Enhancement, Integration and Access Services for Smarter, Collaborative and Adaptive Whole-of Water Cycle Management. The project provides a valuable opportunity to make significant impact on water resource management and create community partnerships that will go well beyond the lifetime of the project. The project is expected to contribute to improved water quality and healthier ecosystems. In turn, the scientifically rich research environment will benefit all involved. It will demonstrate the capability of the Australian researchers in addressing complex problems in data integration and quality. In particular there will be far reaching benefits of research training for associated PhD students and staff.

ARC Research Network in Enterprise Information Infrastructure. EII targets consolidated research towards the comprehensive development & establishment of advanced information infrastructures. Its prime purpose is to provide a forum for intellectual exchange by diverse yet complementary research groups, to address the fundamental research problems faced by scientific & business communities when dealing with deployment of information technology to globally distributed, and data intensive environments. EII will address 3 tightly coupled research themes: Ability to interoperate across existing heterogenous platforms & applications; Efficient processing of very large data sets; Technology adoption & impact. Generic results will be applicable to e-science and large business information systems installations.
