Estimation of School Cost Functions. The main objective of the project is to determine the efficient school size for government schools. To achieve this cost functions for WA government schools will be estimated. Knowledge of the cost functions will shed light on whether regional non-government schools are disadvantaged by Federal and Sate funding models, the impact of school size and expenditure on outcomes and the extent of savings or costs as the enrolment shares of private and public schools ....Estimation of School Cost Functions. The main objective of the project is to determine the efficient school size for government schools. To achieve this cost functions for WA government schools will be estimated. Knowledge of the cost functions will shed light on whether regional non-government schools are disadvantaged by Federal and Sate funding models, the impact of school size and expenditure on outcomes and the extent of savings or costs as the enrolment shares of private and public schools changes. Knowledge of the latter is critical to the proper functioning of the Enrolment Benchmark Adjustment (EBA) used to address cost-shifting in Commonwealth-State education funding arrangements.Read moreRead less
Measuring and modelling the childhood determinants of human capital formation and human capability expansion. This project aims to address significant gaps in the data infrastructure needed to advance Australian's current human capital reform agenda. It will draw on existing population and longitudinal datasets and collect specific community and family data to analyse how the social, economic and ecological contexts of child development enable life-course outcomes in health and human capability ....Measuring and modelling the childhood determinants of human capital formation and human capability expansion. This project aims to address significant gaps in the data infrastructure needed to advance Australian's current human capital reform agenda. It will draw on existing population and longitudinal datasets and collect specific community and family data to analyse how the social, economic and ecological contexts of child development enable life-course outcomes in health and human capability. Existing human capital measures will be refined to develop data standards to support the monitoring of the reform agenda. New modelling techniques to predict patterns of economic, civic and social participation in individuals and populations will also be developed and tested.Read moreRead less
Our Children, Our Families, Our Place: Enabling Communities for Child Health and Wellbeing. This study focuses on community capacity building, participation and reciprocal knowledge development, early prevention and intervention, and multi-tiered intersectoral collaboration to ensure efficient use of resources and maximise positive outcomes for children. The project is set in the Peel Region of WA, among the fastest growth areas in Australia with sufficient sub-populations of interest to enable ....Our Children, Our Families, Our Place: Enabling Communities for Child Health and Wellbeing. This study focuses on community capacity building, participation and reciprocal knowledge development, early prevention and intervention, and multi-tiered intersectoral collaboration to ensure efficient use of resources and maximise positive outcomes for children. The project is set in the Peel Region of WA, among the fastest growth areas in Australia with sufficient sub-populations of interest to enable innovative multilevel statistical modelling techniques to inform other regions across Australia. In addition, the study will implement and evaluate a suite of interventions. Read moreRead less
