The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Longitudinal Clinical And Qualitative Research To Inform National Policy On HIV/STI Prevention And Sexual Health In Melanesia
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$332,123.00
Summary
This research will investigate the epidemiology and socio-cultural context of HIV, sexually transmitted infections and determinants of sexual health among men and women in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. This work will enable stakeholders and policy-makers to gain an in-depth understanding of behavioural and other correlates of sexual risk in selected population cohorts and will inform the development of robust, locally-appropriate sexual health and HIV/STI prevention strategies.

Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount

It is important to address physical, emotional and social issues that arise as a result of diagnosis and treatment to ensure long term quality of life. This project aims to determine the impact of bowel cancer psychological wellbeing and sexual function.
Identification And Analysis Of Novel Genes And Regulatory Regions Associated With Disorders Of Sex Development
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$318,768.00
Summary
Children born with a disorder of sex development (DSD) may differ from typical males or females in their chromosomes, hormones or reproductive organs, sometimes resulting in infertility or gonadal cancer. DSDs are the most common birth defect and yet, most cases are unexplained genetically. I hope to identify new genes needed for gonad formation that cause DSD when mutated. This work will provide answers as to how DSDs arise, and allow informed decision-making regarding possible treatments.
Two new strategies that use anti-HIV drugs for prevention have been proven effective in recent trials. This increases prevention options but may pose challenges to ‘safe sex culture’. This fellowship will analyse ethical aspects of new HIV prevention strategies by exploring how Australians with or at high risk of HIV understand and incorporate new forms of HIV prevention into sexual negotiation. It will also examine how new prevention strategies affect laws that criminalise HIV transmission.
Risky Business: Improving Understanding Of Young People’s Risky Alcohol Consumption, Drug Use And Sexual Behaviour.
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$299,564.00
Summary
Increasing numbers of young Australians engage in high-risk alcohol and drug use and sexual behaviour, and experience preventable health outcomes such as injuries, violence and sexually transmitted infections. Despite growing concern, we lack understanding about why young adults take risks, which groups are most at risk, and how different drugs, contexts and settings contribute. Using unique datasets and novel analytical strategies I will generate new knowledge to inform public health responses.
