2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

Inhibitory Signalling Switches Define The Machinery Of Synaptic Vesicle Endocytosis

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $387,489.00
    Summary
The nerve cells in our brains are in constant communication to sustain life. Communication involves one nerve cell responding to electrical stimulation by releasing chemical messengers, from vesicles, onto the next cell. Our research focuses on the mechanism of recycling of vesicles. Targeting this mechanism is a way to gain fundamental knowledge of how to intervene medically when communication fails, or when communication needs to be dampened, in neurological diseases.

    Axonal Dysfunction In Diabetic Neuropathy

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $466,492.00
    Summary
Diabetic neuropathy causes severe disability, with pain, loss of sensation and weakness. The current project will assess the utility of a new testing method, known as nerve excitability assessment, as a method of detecting early changes in nerve function in diabetic patients. If this technique proves useful in detecting early nerve damage, it will assist in the development of therapeutic and preventative treatments for neuropathy in diabetic patients.

Improving Pain And Movement Outcomes In Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $431,000.00
    Summary
People fear getting painful knee osteoarthritis (OA) more than any other disease – it is seen as progressive and incurable. It often stops people from moving and staying healthy, resulting in an enormous burden on sufferers and the health care system. This program of research aims to understand what brain & nervous system processes might underlie these pain and movement problems and whether new brain-targeting treatment helps. This will allow us to better match treatment to what patients need.

Mechanisms Controlling Sympathetic Nerve Activity To The Heart

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $101,220.00
    Summary
In heart failure there is a large increase in sympathetic nerve activity to the heart and the kidney that has detrimental effects which is related to mortality in patients. The areas in the brain causing the increased nerve activity to the heart are unknown. We will investigate the role of two key brain areas in mediating this increase. In addition we will also focus on local mechanisms that are responsible for the increase in noradrenaline spillover.

Prevention Of Falls To Promote Healthy Ageing: New Approaches And Enhanced Implementation

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $419,180.00
    Summary
This research focuses on fall prevention to promote healthy ageing. It involves the conduct of: 2 trials of exercise-based fall prevention interventions for older community-dwellers aged 60+; 3 studies to identify older people's barriers to participation and program preferences in relation to exercise-based fall prevention programs; and 2 trials of an educational program for health professionals.
