2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

Molecular Characterisation Of Steroid Hormone-dependent Diseases Of The Cardiovascular And Reproductive Systems

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $1,085,790.00
    Summary
Peter Fuller is both a molecular and clinical endocrinologist. His research examines steroid hormones in cardiovascular disease and cancer. The hormone aldosterone controls blood pressure and has a significant role in cardiac failure. This work will enable the development of tissue-specific blockers of aldosterone for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Steroid hormones also have a role in granulosa cell tumours of the ovary and breast cancer; new insights will lead to novel therapeutics.

    Neurogenic Basis Of Hypertension

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $880,454.00
    Summary
Stress and obesity can lead to high blood pressure and greatly increase the risk of life threatening cardiovascular events. This application seeks to determine which chemicals and parts of the brain are responsible for amplifying the responses to repeated stress and during obesity in animal models leading to hypertension.

MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY LED DISCOVERY OF NEW TREATMENTS FOR HUMAN AFRICAN TRYPANOSOMIASIS AND BETA-THALASSEMIA

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $636,524.00
    Summary
I am a medicinal chemist interested in finding new treatments for sleeping sickness, a parasitic disease, and the blood diseases sickle cell anaemia and beta-thalassemia. After testing more than 80,000 compounds, we have discovered some promising starting points for drug discovery. These so-called “screening hits” are too weak to be useful but I hope to use my medicinal chemistry expertise to make these more potent, more selective, and hence therapeutically useful.

    Funding Amount
    $609,384.00
    Summary
This Fellowship will support Professor Anthony Rodgers to continue a track record of excellence in health research, public-private partnerships and innovation. He has led landmark cardiovascular trials and was Principal Author of the WHO World Health Report. He plans a program of research on new combination cardiovascular medicines ('polypills'). Polypill trials that Professor Rodgers initiated have recently shown improved clinical outcomes, patient acceptability, quality of life and cost saving .... T Cell Survival And Function

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $873,684.00
    Summary
This application seeks information on the factors controlling T cell survival, tolerance and responsiveness to foreign antigens and tumour antigens. Particular attention will be directed to determining how T cells are kept alive through contact with self ligands and cytokines while preserving self tolerance and how anti-tumour responses can improved without augmenting the function of T regulatory cells.

Clinical And Public Health Interventions For Preventing Cardiovascular Disease

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $137,595.00
    Summary
Professor Neal’s research has two main components – the first will identify new drug therapies for the management of diabetes and the second will provide new evidence about ways to improve the healthiness of the food supply in Australia.

Assessment Of The Properties Of Mesenchymal Stem Cells And Their Role In Skeletal Tissue Repair And Disease

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $751,854.00
    Summary
There is currently a steady increase in surgical intervention and rehabilitation therapy for bone related fractures due to trauma or osteoporosis as a consequence of an aging population. Bone regeneration involves the coordinated participation of skeletal precursor cells, blood vessels and immune cells recruited from the surrounding tissues. This proposal examines the mechanisms mediating the maintenance and recruitment of skeletal precursor cells to sites of bone damage.

Defining The Requirements For Effective Immune Responses

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $714,745.00
    Summary
The immune system rapidly responds to infectious pathogens to eradicate such microbes and limit the damage they can inflict upon the host. Individuals with primary immunodeficiencies have defects in the development and/or function of the cells of their immune system and are more susceptible to infectious diseases. This study will investigate such individuals to identify functions for specific genes and immune cells in order to understand the requirements for generating effective immune responses ....
