2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services.     Advancing the theoretical bases of supply chain management through the lens of relational exchange theory. This project will explain and predict the behaviour of supply chain members better than current theories do. An integrated theory of supply chain management will be developed and tested empirically. This project aims to develop advanced mathematical optimization models and algorithms to create multi-modal logistics approaches for container movements in and out of Australia’s busy ports. The increasingly congested capital cities of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne need to find new ways of moving an increasing volume of containerized freight. Research into system design and operational scheduling is expected to achieve the required efficiency for multi-modal logistics that will reduce air pollution and road congestion.

Improvement in the operational efficiency and performance of the supply chain will increase national wealth while minimising environmental impacts on the environment, for example, through the better utilisation of heavy freight carriers.

Studies show that 3.5 per cent of sales are lost due to information inefficiencies, 30 per cent of inventory records have errors, and 60 per cent of all invoices have errors.     Mathematics and computing for integrated stockyard-centric management of mining supply chains. Blended mineral products, such as coal and iron ore, make a strong contribution to Australia's economy. Blending occurs in stockpiles, so to realise product value, stockyard and supply chain operational plans must align with blend targets. This project will provide new mathematical and computational planning tools to maximise this value.
