Based on the core disciplines of Economic Theory and Experimental Economics, but with extensive links into other areas of economics and interdisciplinary policy, it is concerned with the design of institutions and policies when rational economic agents (individuals or firms) are embedded in complex biological, social or technological systems. Examples of such systems include the bioeconomic and biophysical systems of the Murray Darling Basin, telecommunication networks and the internet, power distribution grids and markets, health and insurance networks, and information networks (including systems of intellectual property). The Australian Mosque Today: Architectural Collaborations. This project aims to investigate collaborations between architects and Muslim communities in Australia. The project will analyze ten mosques, from design consultation through to construction, completed since 2000. This focus on the professional design process will provide innovative insights into creative collaboration and cross-cultural engagement. Expected outcomes of this project include a significant, richly nuanced counter-narrative ....The Australian Mosque Today: Architectural Collaborations. This field is facing many new exciting challenges at the dawn of new millenium, such as design of complex engineering systems in possibly networked, asynchronous and distributed environments. The network will play a major role in addressing these challenges by providing a national research focus, facilitating collaboration and the sharing of people and ideas. By delivering a National Graduate School, the network will enhance learning conditions for graduate students. Moreover, it will provide an important catalyst between Australian universities and industry. This project introduces the concept of infrastructural biographies to revisit the history of remote community formations from the self-determination era to today. Using ethnographic approaches to understand infrastructural legacies, it aims to interrogate the governance and hardware requirements for supporting Indigenous residents to stay on country.
