Multiview Complete Space Learning for Sparse Camera Network Research. Data analytics in video surveillance and social computing is a problem because data are represented by multiple heterogeneous features. This project will develop a multiview complete space learning framework to exploit heterogeneous properties to represent images obtained from sparse camera networks. It will integrate multiple features to identify people and understand behaviour, to build a database of activities occurring in a wide area of surveillance. It will expand frontier technologies and safeguard Australia by providing warnings for hazardous (for example, overcrowding, trespassing), criminal, and terrorist situations. Results will be applicable internationally and enhance Australia’s role in machine learning and computer vision communities.

    Summary
Unlocking Mass Mobile Video Analytics with Advanced Neural Memory Networks. This project will develop neural memory architectures and dense spatial-temporal bundle adjustment to predict movement, behaviour, and perform multi-sensor fusion across large asynchronous video feeds. This capability will allow us to better interrogate and analyse mass video information recorded from the vast number of smartphones, action cameras, and surveillance cameras which exist at public events of interest. Outcomes include the ability to ingest multiple video feeds into a dense and dynamic 3D reconstruction for knowledge representation and discovery, and analysis of events and behaviour through new spatio-temporal analytic approaches. This will offer significant benefits for video forensic analysis, policing, and emergency response.

Discovery Projects - Grant ID: DP120103730

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $378,000.00
    Summary
A general Bayesian multilinear analysis framework for human behaviour recognition. Smart information use is essential for effective video surveillance in order to guard against accidents, fight crime and combat terrorism. In this project advanced probabilistic methods will be applied to visual surveillance information, to warn of impending accidents and to track criminals and terrorists and predict their behaviours.

    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $300,000.00
    Summary
Computer vision from a multi-structural analysis framework. Computer vision has applications in a wide variety of areas: security (video surveillance), entertainment (special effects), health care (medical imaging), and economy (improved automation and consumer products). This project will improve the accuracy and reliability of such applications. Advances will also lead to new products and industries.
