The network will undertake research applicable in key sectors including the health, education, service, knowledge and media industries. The aim is to establish a higher order of coordination and collaboration in research into ICT applications.
The feasibility study proposed will engage key stakeholders, refine research goals and investigate linkage mechanisms to improve Australia's ICT research and its contribution to economic and social well-being.

Summary
100 Gbit to 1 Terabit per second optical communication test bed facility. This facility will develop and demonstrate novel optical technologies that will underpin the generation and transmission of a higher-speed Ethernet at 100 Gb/s to 1Terabit/s, and will lead to better broadband and more energy efficient internet. At the foundation of this research will be a test bed with multiple signal sources at data rates above 50 Gbaud.
A theoretical framework for practical partial fingerprint identification. Fingerprints captured from a crime scene are often partial and poor quality which makes it difficult to identify the criminal suspects from large databases. This project will find mathematical models which can estimate the missing information located in the blank areas of a partial fingerprint and effectively identify it.
Supporting early science from the Murchison Widefield Array - a Square Kilometre Array (SKA) pathfinder telescope. The Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) is likely to be the first operational pathfinder for the $2.5 billion Square Kilometre Array (SKA) on one of the two candidate SKA sites - the Murchison Radioastronomy Observatory (MRO) in Western Australia.
