Strabismus is the pathological misalignment of the eyes associated with loss of binocular vision and is one of the most common human ophthalmological disorders. Patients with comitant strabismus have full eye movements, whereas patients with incomitant strabismus have limited eye movements, which causes the angle of strabismus to vary with gaze direction. This project aims to define genetic contributors to comitant congenital strabismus.

Modelling and evaluating the joint access mode and train station choice. This project will study park-and-ride (PnR) as an alternative travel mode, reducing car use and increasing transit ridership in low-density cities. The potential impacts of parking charges and high petrol price are central issues. Choice modelling and spatial analysis will be used to assess the value of PnR and aid decisions on PnR location and pricing.
Advancing future primary teachers' engagement in science inquiry learning. Many students leave higher education and disproportionate numbers are from educationally disadvantaged groups, including first-in-family learners. Emotional learning in socioscientific issues for enhancement of scientific literacy. This project will aim to address international concerns about waning student interest and participation in science by engaging middle school students imaginatively in socioscientific issues. Expected outcomes will enhance students' scientific literacy, and the production of positive emotional energy and the classroom emotional climate.
Small steps in science: developing young children's science understanding through playgroup incursions. This project will determine how best to structure science-related incursions into playgroups to provide quality experiences to assist children’s learning and to increase adult-child engagement in science activities. The resulting increased understanding will assist parents and early childhood educators to teach science effectively to young children.
