The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Online Support And Training For Families Of Children With A New Speech Generating Device (SGD)
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$116,563.00
Summary
Children with a physical disability who cannot use speech can benefit from using a Speech Generating Device (SGD). Families are often expected to maintain, program, and teach the use of these devices at home with limited support from service providers. This project aims at developing an on-line, family centred training package for parents of children with a new SGD. The program will be trialed with three families and changes in parent confidence, competence and satisfaction will be reported.
The Etiology Of Child Neglect In Indigenous Families And How This Correlates With Intergenerational Cycles Of Trauma And Social Disadvantage In Indigenous Communities
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$98,387.00
Summary
This research will examine the causes of child neglect in Indigenous families and communities. The project will interview carers of children where there is a risk of child neglect to determine what social factors increase and decrease the chances of children to be neglected. The research will contribute to a better understanding of this problem from the perspective of Indigenous families and communities so that services can better meet the needs of families where there is risk of child neglect.
An Evaluation Of The Impact Of A Chlamydia Testing Intervention On General Practitioner Knowledge, Attitudes And Chlamydia Testing Rates
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$84,800.00
Summary
Chlamydia trachomatis is a significant public health burden. Annual chlamydia testing is recommended for young people attending Australian general practice, and is required to reduce chlamydia prevalence, but testing rates remain low. This research will evaluate the impact of a chlamydia testing intervention on Australian general practitioners’ chlamydia testing rates, knowledge and attitudes. Findings will provide evidence to support future chlamydia control programs in Australia.
The Development, Implementation And Evaluation Of A Randomised Controlled Trial Of Dietary Improvement As A Treatment Strategy For Major Depression.
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$71,047.00
Summary
The SMILES trial: “Supporting the Modification of lifestyle In Lowered Emotional States" is a randomised controlled trial that aims to investigate the efficacy and cost-efficacy of dietary improvement in the treatment of Major Depressive Episodes (MDE). My PhD is embedded within this RCT. We hypothesise that a structured dietary intervention, focusing on dietary improvement (a Modified Mediterranean diet), will be superior to a control condition (social support) in the treatment of MDE.
Optimising The Motor Outcomes Of Infants With Cerebral Palsy Using Environmental And Goal Oriented Interventions
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$116,563.00
Summary
Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. Early diagnosis enables intervention when the brain is developing. Current early intervention has little impact on movement. This research tests the effectiveness of “goal-directed training” and enriched environments by: systematically reviewing literature, piloting the intervention, conducting a clinical trial and interviewing parents. Findings have the potential to improve the outcomes of the 700 new cases diagnosed each year.
Cognitive And Psychosocial Functioning In Patients With Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsies
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$123,143.00
Summary
Children born extremely preterm are at risk of struggling at school and falling behind normal educational milestones, and having emotional problems such as anxiety. This study aims to see whether anxiety affects these children’s ability to learn and use new information. It will also determine whether an intervention targeting these thinking skills is less useful in children with higher levels of anxiety.
How Can We Influence The Ways That Research And Other Information Are Used In Health Policy And Program Organisations?
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$57,140.00
Summary
My research aims to improve methods for getting research into health policy decision-making. My PhD will investigate aspects of design, implementation and evaluation of research utilisation interventions. It will: 1. Increase understanding of the factors that mediate these interventions; 2. Increase empirical understanding of what strategies are most effective in improving research utilisation in different contexts, and 3. Provide concrete guidance for how to design, implement and evaluate such
Assessing The Effect Of Carbohydrate Intake In Overweight And Obese Pregnant Women And In Women With Gestational Diabetes
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$124,075.00
Summary
Women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) have more adverse pregnancy outcomes than the general population. These adverse outcomes are related to glucose levels. Given that carbohydrate is metabolised to glucose by the body, it is plausible that a lower carbohydrate diet will lead to improved glucose levels in these women. The aim of this research is to evaluate the relationship between carbohydrate intake, glucose levels and pregnancy outcomes in women with GDM.
Translating Obesity Prevention Research Into Practice: Targeting Infants At Risk
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$107,204.00
Summary
Childhood obesity is a significant public health concern, with one in four children aged 5 -14 years affected. Those from single parent and lower income families are at particular risk. Infancy and the preschool years are an ideal time for obesity prevention, before children have formed their lifelong eating habits. This project aims to design a program (informed by prior research) that is targeted toward those families most at risk, and that is community-based, practical and cost-effective.
Do Personal Factors And Attitudes In Older Carers Act As Moderating Factors And Limit The Utility Of Physical Activity As A Public Health Intervention?
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$102,063.00
Summary
The ageing population is expected to greatly accelerate the community burden of care for those with dementia and other age related illnesses. Recent data showed that there were 2.6 million carers in Australia, including 520 000 who are aged over 60 years old. Carer burden is a huge social and economic problem. This study will investigate the personal factors which make carers at higher risk of preventable poor physical and mental health, as well as how these factors may impact on intervention ou ....The ageing population is expected to greatly accelerate the community burden of care for those with dementia and other age related illnesses.
