The project aims to introduce a complete systems biology capability to the Ramaciotti Centre for Genomics. This is intended to provide a complete systems biology workflow, including improved data analysis for next-generation sequencing, tissue preparation and imaging, and mass spectrometry for proteomics and metabolomics. This would enable a truly systems approach to biological problems, supporting researchers and projects that focus on microbial and mammalian metabolism, carbohydrate chemistry and synthetic biology. The discovery and characterisation of novel protein regulators of blood cell formation. All of the mature blood cells in the human body are derived from a common ancestor cell type known as a stem cell. Our proposed studies will enhance our knowledge of how functional, mature blood cells are formed from stem cells and how dysregulation of these normally tightly controlled pathways can give rise to severe blood diseases.
