Summary
The Centre will provide a national resource for the evaluation of new and existing drugs. It will focus particularly on investigator-initiated research that is not well served by present funding arrangements. With the cost of pharmaceuticals rising at an annual rate of 15-20 percent there is a clear need for independently developed, comparative information on both new and existing agents.
