Women's political participation, representation and well-being: learning from China's villages. Through a comparative study of Chinese villages, this project tests a framework for analysing the interplay between women's political representation and women's well-being. The project outcomes include new conceptual and methodological tools, strategies for enhancing gender equity in governance and development, and scholarly publications.

The project aims to result in improved knowledge and community acknowledgement of sexual violence against children in Papua New Guinea (PNG), and an approach that could be adapted and adopted in other low income, fragile contexts. It is a very significant project because sexual violence against children is a widespread and escalating social problem, with a very limited capacity to respond to reported incidents. Working closely with two specialist services to trial and assess a low-cost approach, the project is expected to result in longer-term support for child survivors and their families, and reduce further victimisation and offending. Sexual Technologies and Reproductive Powers. The project is to investigate the impact of the new reproductive technologies on the concepts of the sexual relation. The derivation of concepts of sexual equality, and their relation and dependence on technology will be examined. Using the theoretical perspectives of European philosophy, in conjunction with contemporary feminist philosophy, the direction of change in concepts will be investigated.

Young heterosexual men's sexual behaviour places both themselves and women at risk, as a wealth of quantitative data has documented. Yet we know little about how young heterosexual men themselves understand their sexual and social relations with women, nor about the social factors shaping such involvements. ....Young Heterosexual Men's Sexual Relations: Contributions to sexual and reproductive health.
