Network for Research Development in Medieval and Early Modern European Social and Cultural Studies. Funding is sought to establish the framework for an Australian-based international research network of scholars in medieval and early modern studies (MEMS). The MEMS network will develop collaborative, cross-institutional and interdisciplinary lines of enquiry in three main areas: family, gender and social history; war, peace and conflict; Australian reception of European culture. Assessing the Australian Football League's (AFL) racial and religious vilification laws to promote community harmony, multiculturalism and reconciliation. This interdisciplinary project analyses the effectiveness of AFL corporate policy on racial and religious vilification with a view to providing recommendations for further policy actions. A better understanding of how ethnic harmony, diversity and toleration can be achieved will help strengthen the social fabric of the Australian community.
