'Liquid Gold': establishing the place of donated human milk in the tissue economy. Donated human milk can offer profound benefits to the health and survival of hospitalised pre-term infants yet Australia is slow to adopt its use. This research explores the policies and practices of donated human milk use in Australia, and will contribute to the development of donated breast milk policy, and progress current tissue donation theory.

This project aims to measure how adult drinking is linked to child maltreatment within families, communities and societies. The project will use data from 20 countries, including Australia, and expects to develop new knowledge about links between adult drinking, fathering, community-level alcohol availability, societal drinking patterns and harms to children. Post-implementation economic evaluation of childhood vaccination programs. This project will develop a novel framework for assessing the value for money achieved by childhood vaccination programs. This will provide decision makers with methodologically sound economic assessments that incorporate real world program outcomes.
The Kids in Communities Study: national investigation of community level effects on children's developmental outcomes. This project (a cross-disciplinary collaboration) will investigate community level factors influencing early childhood developmental outcomes using a mixed methods approach in up to 10 communities across Australia. This will result in a potential set of measures or indicators that reflect communities that are good for children.
Beyond safety: Ethical practice involving children. This project aims to investigate the role of ethical practice in improving child safety. While child restraints offer good protection, their benefits are significantly diminished if used incorrectly. This project will examine children’s out-of-position during car trips and injury implications and will reduce injury through improved engineering and education solutions.
