This project aims to establish trajectories of loneliness across the 10-18 year developmental period in adolescents with neuro-developmental disorders (NDDs). This is significant because adolescence is the peak period for loneliness and the social communication difficulties experienced by adolescents with NDDs place them at greater risk of loneliness. This project aims to generate data identifying the nature, circumstances and impacts of sexual and intimate partner violence against female international students in Australia. A range of cultural, social and structural issues may increase the vulnerability of female international students to gendered violence, leading to serious impacts on health and well-being. Summary
The impending introduction of Consumer Directed Care (CDC) into Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) will require organisations to respond rapidly in both ‘mindset’ and service delivery to radically change the nature of their current care practices. This project will allow our industry partners to implement and evaluate a CDC model of care that, if successful, will lead to a sustainable site specific implementation plan of CDC for RACFs across Australia with better outcomes for residents.
The National First Nations Research Network will mark a transformation in First Peoples livelihoods and Health Equity. Delivered and led by Indigenous Peoples for Indigenous Peoples, guided by self-determination, this Network will nurture culturally safe environments, connect expertise, catalyse research methods, training and development. The Network will create career pathways to achieve national capability and generational growth, for sustained health and wellbeing of our communities.

Very young adolescents and substance use: community and family vulnerabilities and healthy developmental transitions. This research will examine how families and communities protect very young children from early alcohol and tobacco use. The findings will lead to new prevention policies and programs that better meet the needs of vulnerable communities. This project will strengthen collaborations with leading international research centres in this area.

Excessive sitting and population health: strengthening the science and the relevance to policy and practice. The majority of Australian adults spend most of their waking hours sitting; this increases the likelihood of developing diseases of inactivity, including diabetes, heart disease and some cancers. New research will investigate what factors encourage excessive sitting and what the health benefits are for people who deliberately do less sitting.
