The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Keeping my place in the community: achieving successful ageing-in-place for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This project, in partnership with aged care and disability agencies across two states, aims to examine ways the aged care, social and health needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities may be met in rural and urban settings. It will explore mechanisms that will lead to a better integration of the aged care and disability sectors.

Focus groups with health professionals and an Expert Advisory Panel will further develop these strategies f and establish evidence-based policy, professional and organisational guidelines for the delivery of nursing services in hospitals.Read moreRead less
Development Of Quality Indicators For The Frail Elderly In Acute Care
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$372,311.00
Summary
Frail older people are particularly vulnerable to a range of mishaps while in hospital. Good care can reduce the frequency and extent of these problems. Quality indicators (QIs) assist hospitals, and clinical service units within them, to appraise their performance, and to compare it to other hospitals. QIs for the measurement of outcomes for the frail aged in the acute care setting do not exist in Australia or overseas. We aim to develop these indicators during this study.

Case management and telemedicine are both recognised strategies to support chronic disease self-management. Early intervention can offer significant benefits in morbidity and mortality. Enhanced service delivery using an integrated model encompassing general practitioners, practice nurses and community carers, could improve chronic and complex disease management and reduce health costs.Read moreRead less
A compartive study of an education intervention to promote family involvement in residential dementia care. This study aims to test a collaborative model of care for nursing home residents with irreversible dementias. The Family involvement in care (FIC) model aims for family caregiver(s) and nurses to participate in ongoing negotiation and establishment of a partnership of cooperative role relationships. The intervention aims to reduce stressors for family and staff caregivers along the course ....A compartive study of an education intervention to promote family involvement in residential dementia care. This study aims to test a collaborative model of care for nursing home residents with irreversible dementias. The Family involvement in care (FIC) model aims for family caregiver(s) and nurses to participate in ongoing negotiation and establishment of a partnership of cooperative role relationships. The intervention aims to reduce stressors for family and staff caregivers along the course of the deteriorating dementing illness, and to illuminate nursing interventions that relieve stress and increase positive attitudes. The research has the potential to inform evidence-based dementia care and to improve staff retention.Read moreRead less
Exploring The Value Of Telehealth In Primary Care: A Controlled Trial Within The Royal Flying Doctor Service
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$465,165.00
Summary
This project will evaluate how telehealth services can partially replace expensive fly-in fly-out primary care services for people living in remote communities through reduced waiting times for appointments and significant savings related to the use of aeroplane and staff travel. The study will examine the patient and staff experiences of the change, providing important lessons to guide future development of telehealth not only for rural communities but also for primary health care in general.
An Innovation Platform For Systems-Wide Improvement In Indigenous Primary Health Care
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$2,592,418.00
Summary
The CRE for Integrated Quality Improvement (CRE-IQI) will improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes by accelerating and strengthening large-scale primary health care (PHC) quality improvement efforts. As an Innovation Platform, it will build on and extend the work of the ABCD National Research Partnership, and leverage the efforts of researchers, service providers and policy makers to address priority areas for development of IQI in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander PHC.

Lifetime care for adults with acquired disabilities is of growing public concern. Substantial levels of unmet need, poorly coordinated services and inadequacy of care arrangements to guarantee lifetime care are pressing concerns. Coordinating multi-sector and service inputs is an ongoing problem for policy makers and providers in Australia. The proposed project will develop an empirical understanding of how current systems of financing and management of lifetime care operate at policy and service delivery levels for adults with acquired disabilities. This provides a strategic foundation for policy development and enhanced lifetime care arrangements that will be of relevance to other populations. Read moreRead less

Evaluating current services to identify systems that deliver satisfying, effective, high quality care to vulnerable older Australians in aged care facilities (ACFs) is of national significance. If residents are more satisfied with their meals, their nutritional status will either improve or stabilise, reducing their risk of malnutrition-related morbidity and mortality and the associated financial burden to health care services. The cost of residential aged care is significant and growing and is subject to increased monitoring and concern. This project will suggest refinements of the Aged Care Accreditation Standards to improve their applicability to ACF residents and appropriateness for evaluating resident-focused nutritional care.Read moreRead less
Improving the physical and oral health of people with severe mental illness: using Normalisation Process Theory to support new practices. The physical health of people with severe mental illness is extremely poor, often due to inadequate attention to their health needs by health professionals in primary care and the public mental health system. This project will focus on how practices can be changed to improve the health of this population and increase their access to preventative healthcare.
