Summary
Our faces are central to our ability to communicate, feed, breath and interact with each other. Birth defects that impact on the normal development of the face are common and affect not only the child but have a dramatic impact on the child's family as well. The genetic causes of most facial birth defects are unknown. This project will develop a method for determining how development of the face is controlled and will help identify genes that are responsible for facial birth defects.
Worldwide: the history of the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). This project will result in a greater historical understanding of how state funded public service broadcasters develop and manage their commercial operations. The BBC's commercial arm was emulated by public service broadcasters across the world, not least by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation which was also a key client and partner. This project provides a new perspective on historical and contemporary media by exploring the multifaceted character of Australian media transformation since the introduction of television. It examines the changing relations among media and the roles played by particular cities and their screen production facilities, infrastructures and creative processes.

This project will reevaluate the history of early television drama by adopting a comparative perspective that examines Australian, UK and US drama during the period 1956-1964. Television drama was both a primary site where emerging national television systems could explore and showcase the potentialities of the new medium and a site in which there was considerable international sharing of critical understandings, production practice ....Early Television Drama in Australia, Great Britain and the USA. This project will reevaluate the history of early television drama by adopting a comparative perspective that examines Australian, UK and US drama during the period 1956-1964.
