2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

Developmental Stages Of Cardiovascular Risk Factors And Their Public Health Impact: A Life Course Perspective

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $380,558.00
    Summary
Using a life course approach, the aims of this study are to (a) investigate the developmental stages (pre-natal, childhood and adolescence) of cardiovascular (CVD) risk factors in young adulthood; (b) identify what is influencing these developmental stages either directly or indirectly and (c) quantify the public health burden of these stages and individual factors. Findings will enhance our understanding of the developmental stages of CVD and their public health burden.

Non-invasive Assessment Of Vascular Health In Maternal-fetal And Other Susceptible Populations

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $402,679.00
    Summary
The research in this application focuses on the development and refinement of non-invasive techniques for assessing subclinical atherosclerosis, and cross-disciplinary application of these techniques to identify cardiovascular risk factors and ‘at-risk’ individuals. Emerging and poorly understood risk factors of public health importance are a priority, and include: * Maternal-fetal health * Obesity * Indigenous health

Defining The Optimal Nutrition In Pregnancy And Early Life To Prevent Childhood Obesity

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $428,900.00
    Summary
Obesity threatens to reduce the length and quality of life of future generations and prevention is a priority. There is now good evidence that the risk a person has of becoming obese is related to the nutritional environment they experience before birth and in early infancy. My research aims to identify nutritional strategies which can be applied safely during pregnancy and infancy to help reduce body fat mass in children and improve their long term health outcomes.

Improving And Evaluating The Health Of Mothers And Babies

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $320,848.00
    Summary
This research program considers new ways to monitor an unborn baby’s health and to provide better care for childbearing women. Several projects will test the unborn baby’s well being. A new study will consider two forms of cooling treatments to help relieve pain following childbirth. Further research involves studies of the genetics of increased blood pressure in pregnant women and a structured way of looking at existing evidence to consider how well it delivers.

Breaking The Intergenerational Cycle Of Obesity Through Nutritional Interventions

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $477,180.00
    Summary
The nutritional environmental experienced by an individual before birth and in early infancy is a critical determinant of their risk of obesity and assocaited metabolic disorders in later life. Over the course of this fellowship, I will focus on defining the nutritional factors which are the key drivers of this metabolic programming. My ultimate aim is to identify nutritional interventions during pregnancy and/or early infancy which can improve the long-term health outcomes of the child and redu

Implementing, Evaluating And Translating Pragmatic Strategies To Prevent Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (PAE), And Treat Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $340,038.00
    Summary
Drinking alcohol when pregnant places the unborn child at risk of lifelong brain damage, that we call Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). We can prevent FASD by raising awareness of the harms of drinking in pregnancy, and supporting women not to drink. For those with FASD, treatment programs can help reduce learning and behavioural problems. Our research team work with communities and service providers to implement FASD Prevention and Treatment strategies, and raise awareness of FASD.

Asthma Genetics: Dissecting The Missing Heritability And Biology

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $451,716.00
    Summary
The goal of this application is to apply state-of-the-art technologies to (1) identify genes that increase the risk of developing asthma and (2) help translate this information into knowledge that can be used to improve disease management. I will achieve this by analysing data generated by the Australian Asthma Genetics Consortium and international collaborators.
