2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

Discovering Optimal Weight Loss Interventions To Prevent Osteoarthritis In Obesity Through The Lens Of Early Biomarkers: The TANGO Diet Trial

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $318,768.00
    Summary
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common type of arthritis, and an obese population increases the disease burden of OA. Weight-loss is the first line management for symptom relief but is unclear whether weight loss can prevent OA changes in the joint. Biological OA markers can pick up early disease changes long before any signs on routine X-ray. My research will look at the effect of weight loss by very low energy diet on early OA biomarker in patients with overweight or obesity.

Obesity And AF: Characterisation And Reversibility Of The Clinical Substrate

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $337,180.00
    Summary
Over the last 5 years, I have characterized the atrial fibrillation (AF) substrate in obese sheep model. My goal is now to translate this work to the clinic and confirm the mechanisms of AF in obese patients and their reversibility with weight reduction with a specific aim to identify targets for intervention. Over this period, I intend to establish myself as an independent researcher with the long-term goal of developing effective prevention and management strategies for AF in obesity.

Effects Of Fast Versus Slow Weight Loss On Fat, Muscle And Bone In Postmenopausal Women

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $316,450.00
    Summary
Very low energy diets (VLED) are increasingly used to treat obesity. Of concern is the fact that VLED induce adaptive responses that can inhibit loss of, and promote regain of, abdominal fat while decreasing lean body mass, muscle strength and bone density. This project will therefore determine whether VLEDs could have negative effects on body composition that increase the risk of metabolic disease, sarcopenia or osteoporosis, and if so, what mechanisms are involved.

Cardiovascular Risk Reduction In Atrial Fibrillation (CRAFT)

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $153,975.00
    Summary
Atrial Fibrillation (AF) affects 240,000 Australians and rates of AF are rising. AF presents a significant economic burden. AF is debilitating and increases the risk of stroke, heart failure, or premature death. People with AF have high levels of cardiovascular risk and recommendations suggest they make lifestyle changes. These recommendations are not strongly evidence based. We aim to test if a lifestyle intervention can improve adherence and develop evidence to support the recommendations.

Weight Gain Prevention In Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $318,768.00
    Summary
Obesity increases polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) prevalence and severity across metabolic, reproductive and psychological features. Weight management is the recommended first-line PCOS treatment and women with PCOS are at high risk of weight gain, but weight gain prevention program has not been trialled in this group. This study will assess the effect of metformin, a commonly prescribed drug for PCOS, and a low-intensity lifestyle program on weight gain women with PCOS.
