2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

Visceral Sensation In Complicated And Uncomplicated Upper Gastrointestinal Disease

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $66,929.00
    Summary
50% of patients with complications of peptic ulcer (bleeding) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (Barrett's Oesophagus) have no symptoms of their diseases. In contrast, 50% of patients who seek treatment for gastrointestinal symptoms are found to have no cause after investigations. The aims of this study are to explore differences in sensation, muscular function and genetic factors between patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders and patients with complicated organic disorders.

Characterisation Of The Molecular Pathogenesis Of Cancer Cachexia Syndrome In Colorectal Cancer.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $100,381.00
    Summary
Cachexia is a hypermetabolic wasting syndrome involving depletion of both fat and muscle which affects 80% of cancer patients. The exact mechanisms of this syndrome are unknown at the molecular level and this affects our ability to predict, prevent or treat this problem. This study aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of cancer cachexia syndrome with a view to implementing nutritional, exercise and pharmacological interventions to prevent its onset.

Examining The Intracellular Pathways Regulated By GM-CSF In Macrophages And The Role In Diseases Such Arthritis.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $63,567.00
    Summary
A protein, termed GM-CSF, has been shown to be important in inflammatory conditions, like rheumatoid arthritis. GM-CSF can modify the properties of a key white blood cell, the macrophage, causing macrophages to produce factors harmful to host tissue. Various therapies are being developed to block GM-CSF, however discovering other drugs that block the intracellular actions of GM-CSF in macrophages are needed. Therefore the molecular pathways governing these actions need to be defined.

Cardiopulmonary Bypass And The Acute Release Of Activin A In Inflammation

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $52,914.00
    Summary
This is the first study to investigate the pattern of activin A release in cardiac surgery. Activin A was originally isolated as a reproductive hormone but in the last 10 years, a significant body of work has established its role in a variety of inflammatory and cardiovascular conditions. It has been shown to be an important early player in the inflammatory response to infection. We aim to define its role in inflammation associated with the use of heart-lung machine in cardiac surgery.
