More insulin initiation for people with type 2 diabetes in general practice needs to occur because of the increasing prevalence of this condition and a relative shortage of specialists. Collaboration and coordination between primary and secondary care, and between doctors and nurses, may be important in achieving this. This study utilises a mixed method approach to explore the roles and relationships between the health professionals involved in this task and its impact on insulin initiation.

Summary
The quality of care for people with chronic disease can be improved through well coordinated primary health care services. This research will contribute to better understanding the factors that contribute to effective shared service delivery between general practice and community health services. It is of significance to Australian health policy, as governments are investing to improve access to a broader range of primary health care providers and more integrated service delivery.
Motor problems, ranging from clumsiness to cerebral palsy, are one of the most common adverse outcomes in children born early. This study will investigate the motor development of children born <30 weeks’ gestation compared with peers born at term from birth to 5 years. We will determine whether early clinical evaluations or neuroimaging in the newborn period can predict later motor impairment at 5 years to be able to identify those who will benefit most from early intervention.
An integrated platform built on efficient informatics concepts already implemented in international research infrastructures for large-scale data management, providing access to federated databases/registries, biobank catalogues, harmonised - omics profiles, and bioinformatics tools. Patient data types will be linked via a unique identifier “RD-ID” developed jointly with the US NIH. Technology is changing the lives of Australians. We need to understand the impact on health to gain the benefits with minimal harm. This fellowship will support a program of internationally leading research drawing together ergonomics, physiotherapy and physical activity expertise. Example projects include the impact of electronic games on children’s activity, walking workstations to increase physical activity of office workers and a family-based program for overweight adolescents.

The aim of this study is to understand how people within a primary care system build and maintain relationships of trust between individuals and between organisations. Individuals will be interviewed to learn how they experience trust and related issues, documents will be analysed to learn about the policy and organisational environments of trust relationships, and the Trust Evaluation Scale used to measure the factors associated with trust over a two year period. The outcomes of this study will be an understanding of how organisations establish the relationships that allow them to collaborate effectively. Summary
Cells in some regions of the brain, collectively known as the sensorimotor cortex, control our capacity to purposefully move the arms and hands. Damage to these regions in adults causes severe deficits. However, rehabilitative training can restore some control over the muscles. To understand how the brain circuits change to compensate for injury, and what effect rehabilitation may have on these changes, I will study cellular alterations in the movement control pathways in the cerebral cortex.

The eye has a restricted central area that has good vision. We must make very frequent eye movements to build up a high resolution picture of a particular image. The term active vision is used to describe the requirement of coordinating the eye movements with the visual system. The study of active vision at the neural level requires experiments that combine single cell recording with behaviour. This study will explore which parts of the brain are involved in active vision in monkeys.
