See Hear! Multimodal Recording and Analysis Facility. High resolution recording and analysis will exploit the full potential of motion capture with progress towards automatic recognition of gesture and, eventually, real-time systems. Automatic tracking and recognition systems are in high demand and the interlacing of data from multiple modes is now computationally achievable. SeeHear! will be coded using techniques in multimodal fusion - tracking of bodies will be enhanced by locating and recogn ....See Hear! Multimodal Recording and Analysis Facility. With new empirical techniques, we will identify roles of loudness in perception of structure, arousal and emotion in music. The work has application in inter-personal communication, sonic information display and, and in music selling online.
The well-travelled musician: John Sigismond Cousser and cultures of musical exchange in Baroque Europe. Baroque Europe witnessed the extensive dissemination of two main musical styles: the French and the Italian. This innovative project, which focuses on the unique notebook of widely-travelled musician J. S. Cousser, will re-write current notions of how musicians' networks operated, contributing to a fuller picture of the development of European music.
Pedagogies of expertise in musical thought and practice. This project aims to research the pedagogy and environmental features that underpin the development of early expertise in music. Previous studies of musical expertise have studied instrumental expertise developed in individual contexts.
